Odin Bug Report Generator 0.5.5

Odin Bug Report Generator 0.5.5 (c) copyrighted FREEWARE

Tool to generate Odin Bug Reports that are compatible with the standards that Team Odin has defined in the file ReportingBugs.TXT that is distributed with every Odin build. Bug reports can be created comfortably and fast. 22 changes/additions, 18 bugs fixed since 0.5.3a

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/OdinBug055.wpi
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=OdinBug055.wpi

And the following from Herwig Bauernfeind(developer of OdinBug) on Odin-user list - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/odinusers/

What's new?

* Exception page: OdinBug now uses a second thread in order to retrieve the exception information in the logfile faster and display it on a separate page *before* the report is created!

* Enhanced email creation for Netscape 4.61 and PMMail users. No more copying to the clipboard and pasting into the message body. For these two programs the email is created completely automatically. You just have to send it!

* Complete online help and manual. Every single field now has its own page in the helpfile. Plus a short "HowTo" create bugreports. And a lot more... Please, read it!

* Browse button. Specify your favorite logfile browser in order to take a glance at Odin's logfiles from within OdinBug.

* Multiple bug reports now can be concatenated into a single file.

* And some minor other features...

* Plus: Lots of bug fixes (ever tried to pick a second logfile with one of the previous versions? - No? - Phew!)

* Plus: Packaged into a conveniant .WPI package. A ZIPfile only package is also available!

* Plus: Sourcecode is also available now.

So, in short words: Nobody, and I really mean nobody, should stick with one of the previous versions of OdinBug (especially not with the infamous 0.5.3).

How to get version 0.5.5:
- Odin's weekly build files (from next week onward!)
- from the odinusers files section (now!)
- from hobbes (now!)

eCS Fixtool Version 1.08 Build 2001.12.06

I really wanted a couple of more days to work on it, but the Version 1.07 Build 2001.12.04 has a serious error that needs to be taken care of. The error is in the update of the LAN device driver statements and is not covered in the readme.txt file. The new version is being placed on:

http://pws.prserv.net/mckinnis/code/ecsupdt.2001.12.06.zip

until http://www.ecomstation.com/ is back online.

From the readme:

Change Log:
Build 2001.12.06
Added ecscntl.zip to provide updated control lists for all older ptf releases.
Made some parameters internal to the code and removed ecsupdt.lvl and ecsupdt.lst from the package.
Only update parameters of PMREXX.EXE if necessary.
Add use of WPTOOLS.DLL back in.
Add capability to upgrade to eCS Pro and to install or uninstall SMP support if ecspro*.ptf is available.
If SET SHELLHANDLESINC= is not present in CONFIG.SYS, add a statement, SET SHELLHANDLESINC=20, to CONFIG.SYS.
Update code level to 1.08.

Internet Junkbuster 2.9.10 Beta available

The development of The Internet Junkbuster continues - and an OS/2 port is available. Junkbuster is a powerful web proxy that filters out unwanted web content like advertisements, cookies, snoopy javascript, etc.

Improvements since 2.9.9 Alpha include a web-based configuration editor and a web-based on/off toggle. Tester input is needed... the documentation is a little light at the moment, but you can get support via the Junkbuster SourceForge website or comp.os.os2.apps. An OS/2 self-installing executable, as well as the source code, is available.

Sibyl RAD tool for Pascal development

Some of you might know the Sibyl Pascal development tool. It provides a Delphi-Like RAD Interface, creating a PM application in Pascal becomes quite easy like this. However, Sibyl is quite out of date now and it also has bugs which most probably won't be fixed in the future. Because the sourcecode of the RAD-Tool itself is available (at least parts of it as far as I know) we think about porting it to another pascal compiler (VPascal might be an option which is an excellent compiler). This is not that easy but it should be possible. If you are a pascal developer (and even better a Sibyl user) with some spare time please let me know, we need help to get it to work. Like this we can create a new project for this.

Please send an email to ktk@netlabs.org if you would like to join

MR/2 Update Coming Soon!

The last full release of MR/2 for OS/2 was v2.25 and this version is still available on my MR/2 home page:

http://nick.secant.com/mr2ice.htm

Since this release, however, work on bugs and enhancements HAS continued and current open/public beta version is at v2.29k. My wish is to release a v2.30 RSN ... I have a new set of base DLL's being tested. These DLL's include a small fix that speeds up a few areas.

I will also start providing links to interrim/beta releases as they are deemed "stable", right on the MR/2 home page. This, so those with a minor sense of adventure can benefit sooner at their discretion.

Stay tuned!

Nick

The much awaited SmartSuite for OS/2 upgrade has been released. The major new features are:

Improved Microsoft Excel and Word filters in 1-2-3 and Word Pro, including

Fixes for customer-reported issues in all of the SmartSuite applications.

SmartSuite customers with Passport support will get the new upgrade automatically. It can also be purchased from IBM as an upgrade from SmartSuite v1.5 for $176 US. (Presumably at some point eComStation customers will also receive it as part of an eCS upgrade.)

Monitor adjusting software

Apparently the new LCD desk monitors can be a bear to adjust. This outfit:

http://www.displaymate.com/

has software for sale to optimize the new investment. They have several versions that includes DOS. Their DOS version description even mentions OS/2. I saw it in a magazine that talked about the "several editions" and checked it out, because I'm thinking of doing some major hardware upgrades.
