If you have any comments regarding articles or tips in this or any previous issue of the VOICE Newsletter, please send them to editor@os2voice.org. We are always interested in what our readers have to say.

February 4, 2001 - Here's an update from Peter Hinckley on his article on the Actiontec PC700 Internal PCMCIA Reader and a Compact Flash Adapter under OS/2 -http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0201H/vnewsf3.htm:
Today I downloaded cardbus.exe from the IBM ftp site (ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/os2ddpak). It contains copies of pcm2ata.add, pcmcia.sys, and os2pcard.dmd which are newer than those found on the installation CD. I copied all of these manually to os2\boot, but the card reader couldn't read a card unless I used the copy of pcmcia.sys from the instal16 subdirectory (add the -d parameter to cardbus.exe before running), which is the 16 bit stuff. The copy in instalcb is 32 bit, and it wouldn't work. I suspect this may be because my PC-700 card reader is ISA. And the conflict with par2824.sys still happens.

I've also seen it recommended that card services not be installed with an initial install but added later.

February 5, 2001 - Just a note to apologize for accidentally leaving Cornelis Bockemühl's name off of last month's Free Filesarticle as translator of the article. We appreciate all the work that volunteers like Cornelius do to translate each article from English to German and vice-versa. As well as the hard work of all those who review/edit the articles in both English and German. My thanks to all.

Mark
