ZxMail updated to v1.1.10

Hi ZxMail v1.1.10 has just been released. It fixes an error with the hostname handling, basically in some case the server would not start on a new installation, if hostname was not set in the config.sys. If your installation runs, then you do need to update to this version,

Thank you.

Focus on OS/2 articles

Hello everyone,

As most of you probably know, I worked as the OS/2 Guide for About.com for almost three years before my site, Focus on OS/2 was abruptly terminated. During that time I wrote a large number of articles on various OS/2-related topics. Although I have the copyright for these articles, they have been unavailable to the general OS/2 public--until now.

Many of the people who visited my site regularly expressed a desire to see these articles posted on the Web once again. Recently, Jeremy Workman, one such faithful reader, undertook to do the HTML conversion and reorganization necessary to make the articles "work" on a new site. I would like publicly thank Jeremy for performing all this work for me and for OS/2 users everywhere. If he had not stepped up to the plate, it is likely the articles would have never gotten posted to Warpdoctor.

Now for the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

ALL of my articles originally published on About.com can now be found on the Warpdoctor site on the new area Warped World of OS/2 at: http://www.warpdoctor.org/walter/index.html

For the present, the articles at http://www.warpdoctor.org/walter/index.html contain ONLY the material written while I worked for About.com and is therefore static. However, after I left About I have been writing for other magazines, mostly the VOICE Newsletter, and these articles can be found on my personal website at http://members.rogers.com/wfmetcalf/OS2_Treasury/Articles/. (Note: case is significant.) It is my ultimate hope to put ALL my articles (About.com and otherwise) on my personal site.

RexxMail build 20020306.143140 released.

A new build of RexxMail is available from my web site:

http://www.degeus.com/rexx/rexxmail_english.html
or
http://www.degeus.com/rexx/rexxmail_nederlands.html

The distribution ZIP file is also available from the Hobbes repository:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=rexxmail

This release addresses two minor bugs:

1. In new installations, a typo in the installation program generated an error message after an otherwise successful installation.

2. The HTML to text conversion procedure would trip over some types of malformed HTML code.

RexxMail is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, see http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html

SciTech Display Doctor 7.0 for OS/2 is now Available!

SciTech Display Doctor 7.0 Professional brings SciTech's proven universal device driver technologies to the OS/2 operating system, in a big way.

SciTech Display Doctor 7 incorporates the latest version of the SciTech Nucleus Graphics Architecture, which is a cross platform highly scalable device driver technology. SciTech Nucleus Technology enables the use of the same device drivers on multiple operating systems.

So what does this mean to you? It means that your mission critical workstations and servers have the most stable drivers available regardless of which graphics card you choose, and feel free to choose because the latest version of SciTech Display Doctor 7.0 Professional for OS/2 has more than 170 supported chips.

Not impressed. Try swapping over 170 different graphics cards in a single machine with out ever changing a driver. Now watch as your system boots error free each and every time. You may call it over engineering; at SciTech we call it peace of mind! OK, Steve (our QA guy) just calls it a lot of work :)

i) Warp Community Update Workshop I/2002: Results & Feedback

We just finished our latest Warp Community update workshop in Munich. With around 50 participants, this was the largest audience we ever had. Thanks to all, who have been there (and for those, who have not been there: You missed a lot !!). All sessions were held in a separate room, hands-on were done in 2 rooms, equipped with the latest PCs (like Pentium4). Overall satisfaction with the event was 1.5, satisfaction with presentations was 2.0. So, this proves, we are on the right track and this workshop has been useful for the audience, coming from almost all of Europe, USA and Australia.

Pictures will be available on the web shortly.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
j) New DUMP file for LVM systems with LBA enabled drives

There is a README file with install details in the DMP0304.ZIP file.

ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v4.5warp/dmp0304.zip

That's it for now. Stay tuned for the next NewsFlash.
Warm regards.
