Phex 0.64 (Java gnutella client)

They just released a new update -- the Phex team hasn't updated the Phex homepage yet but I put a copy of the new version on my page: http://www.ktb.net/~crenquis/phex2.html (my page is still a mess)

Put simply, Phex is a java-based gnutella client. http://forums.gnutelliums.com/

While it is not the prettiest client around, Phex is certainly one of the most useful... Most importantly, it works just fine under OS/2.

The new versions of Phex only work under Java13 (versions that work under Java11 are on the above site)"

Kaspersky Antivirus for OS/2

It seems that nobody noticed (except the Russians) that there is new beta of Kaspersky Antivirus software for OS/2. I don't have exact link at the moment (I picked up the file at work) but if you can't find it just let me know, and I will dig it out from somewhere.

It is on http://downloads1.kaspersky-labs.com/beta/OS2/KAVOS2/

A potential user should download antivirus base file, because it is not included into above mentioned OS/2 version.

Hypermake 4.0

Martin Vieregg has released Hypermake 4.0

With Hypermake (earlier version "MakeIPF"), you can easily create HTML files or IBM IPF files, Winhelp, RTF-Text files and Microsoft HTML-Help files. Instead of editing the HTML, IPF or RTF files directly, you enter a more simple ASCII source text. Links are created automatically; windows of different headings levels can be shown simultaneusly (frames) with only one command; at the end of a chapter, links to subchapters are created automatically and a lot of more.

DirDiff 2.00

From ws it-service, Wolfram Schmid w.schmid@ws-it.de a fully new version of DirDiff has been released.

DirDiff 2.0 is a directory compare and analysis program for OS/2 PM and the successor of DirDiff 1.x.

This version replaces DirDiff 1.x end eliminates limitations the old version has because of the used list control.

We developed a fully new 32 bit list control for displaying the search results which is able to show nearly any number of rows.

In addition we improved the memory management so that the 2.0 version uses less memory.

New main features of the version 2.0 are sorting and filtering of the search result and copy and move of files via drag and drop.

Awesome OS/2 links resource

I have been working on a simple project to help users get up and running in the OS/2 world... I have created a replacement for the default bookmarks provided by Netscape and Mozilla... somewhat more OS/2centric...

There is a simple readme outlining what I am attempting http://www3.sympatico.ca/brittonm/1st_readme.txt First I have a complete bookmark file containing the current URL's that I am aware of http://www3.sympatico.ca/brittonm/all_bm_current.html This file is really intended for new OS/2|eCs users, or those returning to OS/2 after a period elsewhere, anyway for new installations. The aim is to provide an os2centric starting point with the bookmarks, and the file can be used with Netscape or Mozilla

It can be accessed over a browser, but it isn't really pretty, eventually I will create a home page to deal with this. It is primarily intended to be the users bookmarks file, that can be modified by the user to suite their needs, so I am not keen to trim too much, that should be the users choice.

I have put together simple readme's to describe how to proceed with the integration of the bookmark file into the browser
http://www3.sympatico.ca/brittonm/mozilla.txt
http://www3.sympatico.ca/brittonm/netscape.txt

====>>>>> Here's the juicy bit.....

Anyway in response to this announcement I was contacted about this site....

http://os2.mensys.nl/switchboard/index.html this has 800+ links, awsome, it has international links, and it is still actively maintained, with a mailing list for change notification.... so I have subscribed... and I reckon it would pay most users to check it out.... it also has an online notification of link change, so users can help keep everything uptodate... this link should be at the top of anyone's list of useful links....!!!

I urge users reading this to spread the word, participate in keeping links current, and submitting new links to this excellent resource......

Thanks for reading this,

regards,

P.S.: Sorry for duplicate posting. It's too early in the morning :)

------------------------------

OPEN PUBLIC BETA RELEASE 5Br>
