07 May 2004 10:20:25 -0500

From:

Today we are beginning limited testing of the first Release Candidate
(RC1) for eComStation 1.2, planned for release later this month. This
will include an updated Application Pack and software subscription
offerings for both products.

One of the Application Pack 1.2 components, Serenity Virtual Station/2
(SVISTA/2), the OS/2 - eComStation host virtual machine, will be part of
a public beta planned to begin by mid-May. Users interested in this
product should either participate in the public beta, *or* order the
Application Pack. Ordering the Application Pack 1.2 will automatically
include participation in the SVISTA/2 beta.

More information about these projects is in the eComstation Roadmap
available from http://www.ecomstation.com

SW: JFS 20040503 on Testcase

03 May 2004 21:32:26 -0500

From: "Mark Dodel"

Scott has put a new build of JFS on the IBM Testcase FTP server:
< ftp://testcase.boulder.ibm.com/ps/fromibm/os2/jfs20040503.zip >

From the Readme:

2004/05/01 bldlevel 14.098d
- possible hang fix on large 32 bit read/write calls (test fix)

[Moderator note: As always these are not officially supported by IBM
unless they tell you to use them.

**** Please send any followup to comp.os.os2.bugs on usenet. ****

Also note that files are only on IBM's testcase for 2-3 days, so if you
want to try these get them now. Make certain you back up any files
replaced and don't try these on a production system. Read any readme file
before applying any changes. If your system is working well, and you have
no problems addressed by these updates, do yourself a favour and don't
mess with this. You have been warned.]

Net: netlabs.org: Request for content management support

03 May 2004 16:45:26 -0500

From: Adrian Gschwend

Hi community!

As you might have notice there is quite a lot of stuff that happens at
netlabs.org at the moment. We have some fancy new projects and there will
be more in the future. This is possible because we started to hire people
for specific projects. There is an excellent article about that concept
in the current VOICE Newsletter 05/2004. It is nice to see that I am not
the only one who thinks this concept might work :-)

At the moment I prepare some new projects but once again I have to notice
that I am a coordinator but not a marketing guy. Which means I get bored
of writing some nice texts about the projects. This is not my main
competence and you might easily note that while browsing our project
pages ;)

That's why I am looking for people who could help me in correcting the
project pages a bit at netlabs.org and also extending the description of
new and existing projects in the future. All you need to do that is a
*minimal* HTML know how (it's enough if you know
,

and
href...>") and some english for correcting my mistakes :)

There is a small content management system (CMS) running at netlabs.org
and I can give you access to specific projects. I will also provide a
short description about how to use it for project admins.

You also support the developers like this because they do not have to
bother about such stuff in the future.

So in case this is a job for you and you would like to contribute (on
"best effort" base), please send an email to me with the following
information:

- your prefered username for the CMS
- a password (if you don't provide one I will generate it for you)
- some prefered projects you would like to administrate (you can also
say "I don't care").

That's it so far, thanks in advance. More will come within the next
weeks/months!

cu

SW: Audio/Data-Cd-Creator users: Request for help

02 May 2004 09:09:51 -0500

From: adc-os2DESPAM@cityweb.de

This posting is directed to current users of the Audio/Data-CD-Creator
package for writing CD-R/RWs.

It's known that setting the right options for the various helper programs
may be a difficult process especially for users new to CD writing. Main
problem is probably finding the right driver for Cdrdao/2. To make things
easier in the future I'm trying to create a database containing the
necessary information so options may be set automatically when a writer is
known. For this I need your help. If your CD writer (or CD-ROM, DVD
writer) works with cdrecord and/or cdrdao/2 please gather the information
specified below and send it to . Note that this
will help you and every OS/2 user in the future so please take the few
minutes.

Your privacy
------------
Well, it's sad that today one has to state the obvious because of the
ill-minded spammers out there, so here it comes:

All the information you send in will only be used for building the
database and for nothing else. Your name and email address will not be
included in any document or file and the sent in mail destroyed after
processing.

Note that I will not answer to any of these mails so if you have any
questions/ideas/whatever use the contact info contained in the
Audio/Data-CD-Creator docs.

About Audio/Data-CD-Creator
---------------------------
ADC is a WPS integrated frontend to cdrecord, mkisofs, VIO mode grabbers
and cdrdao for creating all kinds of CDs. MP3 encoding and decoding
support.

Find more information here:

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards Chris Wohlgemuth

PS: followup set to comp.os.os2.multimedia

3. Does your writer support buffer underrun protection
(burnproof/burnsave/just-link/...)?

4. Does your writer need the 'Sony multisession fix'? (Setting on the
General page 2)

5. Additional needed options for cdrecord when writing audio CDs (if any).

6. Additional needed options for cdrecord when writing data CDs (if any).
