CADware's BlueCad 1.06 for OS/2

After having read the article about BlueCAD 1.0 in OS/2-ezine http://www.os2ezine.com/20030516/page_2.html I asked CADware about the chances to to make BlueCAD freely available to the OS/2 community, since it is no business any more for them and they only offer the latest fix to level 1.010 in different languages, but not the base product any more for download.

I was told, that they currently "are building new version of http://www.cadware.it site , and one discussion is whether make BlueCAD 1.0 for OS/2 downloadable for free or not."

So I don't know if it might be helpful for this decision finding process, if more people are asking for it or or even be contra productive :-\

It really would be great, if another famous OS/2 softpiece could be saved from disappearing into the huge black NUL device of economics for ever and a shame, if exactly this would happen.

I just thought, I let you know.

As the T40 is meant to be supported with OS/2, here's a little tricks to make SNAP work better:

> rebooting - after that, it will probably work correctly. ATI has bugs
> in their AGP FastWrite when using suspend.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
g) Updated LPR driver

Streaming Line PRinter (SLPR) is a streaming port driver (SLPR.PDR) used to connect your computer to a printer or print server via a TCP/IP connection. The driver uses Line Printer Daemon (LPD) protocol as specified in RFC 1179. This protocol is an almost universal way to send print data to printers and servers. It is meant to be used as a alternative to the \PIPE\LPD0 (henceforth LPD0) port driver which is shipped with OS/2.

Features include:
* Faster Thruput: Data can be sent to the printer almost as soon as it is generated as compared to the LPD0 driver which needs to wait until all the printer job is generated before it is sent.
* Simpler Setup: The LPD0 driver requires a separate program (LPD.EXE) be up and running before it will work. Since the LPD program is communicating with the printer directly it has the status - not the spooler.
* Better Error Handling: With LPD0 any problems are reported via LPD program and not the spooler. With SLPR there is a direct interaction with the spooler so error recovery is more intelligent.
* User Specified Time-outs: With LPD the default is to wait indefinitely so out of paper or printer jams are not noticed for a long time. With SLPR any waits longer than the user specified time-out generates an easy to see pop-up notification. * More Ports: SLPR can have up to 64.

Warpstock announces EZPay registration payment plan for 2003

Warpstock wants everyone to attend this year's event in San Francisco. So we are making it even easier for you to do so by giving you the option of extended payments with our Bank of America Merchant Store. Now, instead of having to come up with the Early Bird Pricing of $99 on your next credit card bill, you can split that payment into 4 $25 payments over the next four months.

People often say that they never manage to put the money away to pay the Warpstock admission, so now we have a small monthly payment that will get you into Warpstock for two days of our great presentations. For the simple fee of $1.00, which covers our additional transaction expenses, you can spread out the cost of your admission without interest charges on your VISA or MasterCard. EZ Pay 4 payment plan will be available for the months of June and July so that we can stop billing you prior to the Xmas shopping season. A three payment and a two payment plan are also available. You will receive e-mail notification prior to your being billed on the first of each month, so please give us your correct and working e-mail address, so that we can send notifications and acknowledgement of your purchases.

The Easy Payment Plan is only available to credit card users via our web site. No fax or snail mail requests for Easy Pay will be accepted. Register for Warpstock using our EZ Payment Plan -

While you are at the Warpstock online store, take a moment to purchase one of our great golf shirts from last year's event. The shirts are on sale and summer is coming. Who doesn't need another white or (for the first time available to the general public) burgundy golf shirt? We've sold out of our overrun of grey shirts. These 100% cotton shirts are fully sized and preshrunk. They have the Warpstock 2002 logo proudly embroidered on the left breast and the Warpstock URL stitched onto the left sleeve cuff. These have been great wearing shirts and are easy to remove stains from. We have reduced the pricing on these shirts, because there aren't that many left and some sizes may be sold out. Get your's while they are available! We ship via Priority US Mail so that you can have your shirt as soon as possible. Foreign orders are shipped 'first class letter. Buy a Warpstock shirt -

Java Movie Database V1.2 released

We released a new version of our Java Movie Database (JMDB) on 2003-06-08.

Here are the main changes:
=======================
-search in a timeframe (because the database structure has been changed, you need do a new import)
-heavy update of the movie collections feature (multi lines per entry, sql statements can have more than one return value, sort by type ) You have to check your *.def files, because the line 'COLUMN = Rating... ; String ; ...' previously used "int" as column type and that's an error!
-you can select which files you want to import in the setup
-and other features

For a detailed list of changes look at the homepage (download section).

OS/2-NetWare Users Mailing List is up!

After receiving poositive responses for most of today, the OS/2-NetWare Users mailing list is now up on my server. Topics of discussion should be limited to OS/2 clients and their use within Novell NetWare networks. Valid discussions would therefor include administering NetWare servers from OS/2, client connectivity issues, file & print concerns, and related Novell technologies (BorderManager, GroupWise, etc.) and how these impact upon OS/2 clients.

Archives will soon available on the web at:

http://www.2rosenthals.com/lists/os2-netware_users

Please note that as our web server is located on TCP port 81, you may have difficulty accessing the above link if you are behind a firewall which blocks HTTP transports on non-standard ports.

To subscribe from this list, send a message to steward@2rosenthals.com with the command "subscribe os2-netware_users" in the body (omit the quotes & obviously remove the DESPAM from the address).

OS/2-NetWare Users Mailing List

I'd like to see who might be interested in an OS/2-NetWare Users mailing list. Novell has relegated OS/2 clients to their general newsgroup for discontinued products, which is completely unfocused. I'm sure that I'm not the only one of us left in the trenches these days, dealing with OS/2 clients in NetWare environments, particularly under the newer versions of the NetWare OS. If there is sufficient interest, I'll start a list on my server. Please contact me directly, and once I get a sufficient sampling (a small number would do), I'll set up the list.
