Preprocessor for OS/2 helpfiles

This package allows you to easily create powerful OS/2 INF files with only a handfull of commands instead of the complex set of IPF commands. Unlike other packages, HyperText/2 cannot produce Win help files or HTML files, but it is freeware (also unlike other tools) :-)

Netscape 6.2.1 equivalent

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla0.9.4.1/mozilla-os2-0.9.4.1.zip

This is an OS/2 version of the base for Netscape 6.2.1.

If you want to run a pretty stable build, this is it.

Please report bugs through bugzilla, but also test them on nightlies to see if they are fixed.

I'm mainly looking for OS/2 specific bugs in this build (works on Windows 6.2.1, doesn't work on OS/2)

Thanks

autonic

At boot time detect PCI Network card and autoload it's driver

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/autonic.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=autonic.zip

readme:

in config sys insert a line like this
device=x:\autonic.sys x = boot drive
replace the line of your nic card by this one
device=x:\ibmcom\macs\auto.os2 x = boot drive

on your hardisk or cdrom create directories d:\mptn\auto\xxxx.yyyy where xxxx = pci vendor id and yyyy = pci device id into the directory xxxx.yyyy copy protocol.ini and driver zzzz.os2 for the card

copy pcisnif.exe to x:\os2 x = boot drive

what do autonic.sys
===================

at boot time autnic during the init phase DosExecPgm a program called snifpci.exe yes you can start a program from a device driver at boot time because during init phase of your device driver you are at ring 3 the only problem is that your program must be a 16 bits OS/2 program (no problem with watcom 11C)

The program snifpci scan the pci env using the OEMHLP$ driver so put the driver autonic.sys after the load of the OEMHLP$ driver. When snifpci found a vendor id,device id it looks at x:\ibmcom\auto\ for a directory matching. If matching it copies the x:\ibmcom\auto\xxxx.yyyy\*.ini to x:\ibmcom\protocol.ini and x:\ibmcom\xxxx.yyyy\*.os to x:\ibmcom\macs\auto.os2

x:\ibmcom\8086.7200\protocol.ini
x:\ibmcom\8086.7200\ibmfe.os2
x:\ibmcom\8086.7300\protocol.ini
x:\ibmcom\8086.7300\ibmcndis.os2

etc...

TODO:

1. When booting from cdrom not copy the driver and protocol.ini to the bootdrive (it is in read only) but put it on the ram disk Easy to do because we must just change a 16 bit ring 3 program

2. When no match read the directory \ibmcom\macs\*.nif display the text string for all the card available in the directory and let the user choose the card

SIO2K Version 2.02

Version 2.02 of SIO2K is now available from downloading from http://www.gwinn.com A list of corrections and additions is below.

The combination of a SMsC SuperIO chip on an SMP system could cause a lockup when a port is opened. This problem has been corrected.

SuperIO and UltraIO are motherboard chip sets with serial ports, often with the capability for extented bit rates.

Added support for the following SMsC SuperIO and UltraIO chips with bit rates up to 460800: FDC37N971, FDC37N972, FDC37M70x, FDC37M81x, FDC37N958, FDC37N769, FDC37N3869, LPC47N227, LPC47N252, LPC47N267, LPC47M192, LPC47M14x, LPC47M10x, LPC47S45x, FDC37C67x, FDC37M70x, FDC37B72x, and FDC37B77x.

Added support for up to 921600 bps for the following Winbond SuperIO chips: W83977EF and W83977TF.

YOU MUST add "SuperIO", without the quote marks, to the uart.sys command line to enable the higher bit rates on your computer.

A problem was corrected in sio2k.sys that could cause a trap when exiting from PMLM.

If the audio device is in use it will now return a proper error message.
Debugging symbols successfully stripped from dll.
Updated documention on the timidity.cfg file.

F file manager 4.64 beta released

On December 10th, Duy Nguyen and Michel Normand have released version 4.64 beta of F, the "Swiss army knive" of file managers. F is a freeware text-mode multi-platform application. Supported operating systems are OS/2, AIX, BSD, Linux, and Win32.

F is not only a very configurable file manager, but also offers an FTP/FXP client, an editor with syntax-highlighting, numerous tools for developers, simple e-mail and news clients, as well as small HTTP and FTP servers. F comes with its own FFP (F to F protocol) for file transfers and remote file execution, providing services for remote administration. Note that the interface is keyboard-only.

This new beta version includes important, partially OS/2-related fixes:

- potential file corruption when uploading to an OS/2 FTP server (OS/2's standard FTPD.EXE) by adding 100 bytes - MKD command abnormally sent upon upload to FTP server
- additional file information was not displayed for files linked via Toronto Virtual File System (TVFS)

InetPowerServer v0.9.4 (Beta) released!

On Dec 9th 2001, The author Terje Flaarønning released v0.9.4 (Beta) of his full featured Inet server package InetPowerServer (IPS). This new version of IPS has a number of great performance enhancement in the web server component including a dynamic memory document cache. A new problem tracking solution is also in place which automatically logs more information in case it should fail and you need to report a bug. For a full list of changes, check Appendix A in the IPS documentation available from the IPS site.

InetPowerServer will help you provide efficient and stable Inet services for e-mail, file transfers and web contents. IPS provides a common security setup for multiple services, an advanced virtual file system and flexible multi hosting or even multiple site personalities. Many of the recent extensions to the supported protocols (FTP, HTTP, POP3 and SMTP) are also implemented in IPS making it one of the most feature complete Inet serving packages around for any platform.

The IPS Beta Team is still open for anyone to join as long as they have a Yahoo ID! (for access to additional features) and have time to test and report back on most closed releases done within the IPS Beta Team. Inactive users will however be automatically removed from the IPS Beta Team after a while. Join the IPS Beta Team from the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IPS-beta page.

Work has begun developing an IMAP component for inclusion into the IPS product to further enhance the e-mail features available to your clients. There is no fixed date for completion of this new component yet, but it will first reach the users of the IPS Beta Team before a public version with IMAP support will be made available.

The official IPS site can be found at http://www.InetPowerServer.com/ from where you can download the latest available version at any time. IPS is high quality software offered to you for free!

Best regards,
Terje Flaarønning – author of InetPowerServer

InProTrack 1.20 released

Kai Evers has updated InProTrack to Version 1.20

'InProTrack' is short for 'Installed Product Tracker'. The program retrieves the current installed components from syslevel and other system config files and shows the results in a nice looking PM dialog. You can choose between various speed options. Fastest mode is really fast and won't let you have time to do other things while you wait (because you won't have to ;->). Furthermore you can view single SYSLEVEL files.

The following data is shown: All syslevel and gtlevel informations, revision OS (FixPaks), 'real' OS version, additional OS informations revision TCP/IP stack, Rexx (type, version, date) etc.

New:

- GTlevel support extended
- Some startup problems fixed (RexxUtil)
+ More revision infos if MPTS > 5.30
+ Updated OS/2 versions (Warp Server SMP, WSeB, WSOD, CP etc.) - Better behaviour on systems with FixPaks
- Support for newer OS revisions
- Internal changes
