Automatic shutdown process killer

Many people might not be aware of this, but the eCS 'enhanced shutdown' (part of eStyler) includes a built-in process killer.

I see people resorting to the use of GO or other killers in order to kill recalcitrant processes during shutdown, but the necessary functionality is actually built into the shutdown itself.

However, it has no GUI to configure it (I think Alessandro added the feature after the eStyler settings notebook was finished & delivered).

ESTYLER.INI keeps a "kill list" of programs (listed by exe name) which it will automatically kill during shutdown if they are running.

I've written a REXX program to allow users to view and modify the kill list, and uploaded it to Hobbes:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/shutkill_10.zip

Later:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/process/shutkill_10.zip

You run this program from the command line. The syntax is simple:

SHUTKILL /A -- Add to the kill list.
SHUTKILL /D -- Delete from the kill list.
SHUTKILL /L -- List all programs currently in the list.

Finnegan Software News - No VPC, lots of eCS...

Hi again... four items to report today:

1) Virtual PC for OS/2 version 5 has been PULLED from distribution by the new owners... (uh... rhymes with PicroLoft), so it is no longer available through us. We have no stock (and had no real warning, though kinda figured this was coming...). Sorry!

2) eComStation pre-loaded custom-assembled PC's quote PDF has been updated - including AMD Opteron CPUs and several other new toys...

3) perhaps most pertinent to those reading this - our latest shipment of eComStation v1.1 packages has arrived, so we will be shipping these out ASAP to all those who have been waiting (im)patiently for the CD's... our sincere apologies for the delay. They should begin arriving by the end of next week, perhaps sooner.

4) in relation to number 3 above - we have stock left over from back-orders that needed filling, so if you're looking for a copy, please drop us a line. (eMail preferred, since we're not always here to answer the phone). Online ordering also available on the website.

Full details for everything at http://www.finnsoft.com

Thanks, and thanks for your support!

NetGear MA-311 wireless LAN PCI Card works fine

This is important news as the card is for DESKTOP PC's it's a PCI card not a PCMCIA card! It now means that there is an out-of-the-box card so that you can have all your PC's networked without wiring a lan.

Hi Everybody,

I have tested this card [NetGear MA-311 PCI Card] and it works fine with the IBM miniPCI driver, without any changes.

with best regards

Jens Glathe.
