THE REXX LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES
its new status as a non-profit educational corporation.
Research Triangle Park, NC - The Rexx Language Association announced
today that on May 7, 1998 it received official confirmation of its
new status as a non-profit educational corporation under the laws of
the State of North Carolina.
Since its inception in 1993, the group, known as RexxLA, has been
operating as a volunteer membership organization. The Association was
founded for the purpose of furthering the understanding and use of
the Rexx family of computer programming languages. These include
Classic Rexx (an easy-to-use procedural language), Object Rexx (a
powerful object-oriented language), and NetRexx (a Java development
language).
RexxLA was actively involved in drafting the ANSI Standard for
Classic Rexx and is currently engaged in the creation of the Object
Rexx and NetRexx standards.
The Annual Meeting of the membership was held during the recent Ninth
International Rexx Symposium at the Research Triangle Park in North
Carolina. The President introduced the Officers and the Board of
Directors, reported on the state of the Association, and concluded
the meeting with a discussion of how best to further the goals of
RexxLA.
The RexxLA website at www.rexxla.org has more information on the Rexx
Language Association.
