AFP Font Collection Delivers DBCS Fonts for AIX, OS/400 and
OS/2
At A Glance
The AFP Font Collection Version 2 now includes DBCS fonts
for AIX, OS/400 and OS/2 in AFP 240 dpi raster and AFP
outline font formats. Supported languages are:
Japanese
Korean
Simplified Chinese
Traditional Chinese
Previously, DBCS AFP fonts had to be created by the user
from Adobe CID keyed outlines using the AFP Type
Transformer utility. Now, you can print AFP output in Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese using the fonts as provided in the Font
Collection.

Overview
The IBM AFP Font Collection for AIX, OS/400 and OS/2
(5648-B45) provides a comprehensive set of AFP fonts to
give you consistent printed output on AFP printers at 240
or 300 dpi using raster fonts, or at any resolution on
printers that use AFP outline fonts. The AFP Font
Collection supports printing in approximately forty-six
languages, including printing in double-byte languages such
as Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional
Chinese.
The optional Outline Fonts and Programs feature allows you
to acquire Type 1 or CID keyed outline fonts in any
typeface and create AFP fonts in raster format, or in AFP
outline format. The Type 1 and CID keyed outline fonts also
allow you to view your AFP documents on Windows 95, Windows
NT or OS/2 systems, or via the Netscape or Internet
Explorer browser with WYSIWYG fidelity.
The AFP Font Collection Version 2 now includes double-byte
(DBCS) AFP fonts in 240 dpi raster format and in AFP
outline format for the following languages and typefaces:
Japanese
Heisei Maru Gothic
Heisei Kaku Gothic
Heisei Mincho
Korean (includes 11,172 Hangul Characters)
Gothic
Myengjo
Simplified Chinese
Fang Song (GB)
Hei (GB)
Kai (GB)
Song (GBK)
Traditional Chinese
Kai
Sung

Key Prerequisites
The AFP DBCS fonts are used with PSF/400, PSF for AIX,
InfoPrint Manager, PSF/2 or OS/2 Warp Server.
