Feb 15, 1999 -- MaxBase v2 has been released to the public.
Casalgrande (Italy), Feb the 15th 1999
Effe-Elle System s.r.l. announces the general availability
of MaxBase v2, the new release of the lightweight Java
database product whose first version was rated as "Cool"
technology by Gamelan and "Top 5%" by JARS.
The MaxBase package contains several Java applications for
creation, population, administration of local and remote
database tables in a proprietary format (conversion
utilities for DB III, CSV, QIF files are provided), design
and printing of reports and forms, creation of HTML tables
for use in web pages; on top of these, classes and Beans for
Java and NetRexx developers are provided in the package. The
product, tested internally on Linux, OS/2 and Windows
95/98/NT but running also on other platforms is
specifically aimed at users, consultants and developers that
need an easy, affordable and lightweight solution for
everyday database tasks; Effe-Elle System, an european
software firm, uses the product to build its own
vertical software and this ensures that the product is both
improving and battle-proven for the tasks it was created
for.
Following the trend set by similar products, MaxBase is
distributed exclusively on the internet on the main MaxBase
web page,
http://www.flsystem.it/eng/Software/MaxBase/MaxBase.html and
the extended edition can be purchased with a secure
transaction on the web; the standard edition of the product,
however, is downloadable for free at the above URL and
provides the same set of features as the extended edition,
but is limited in the number of the connections a MaxBase
server can accept at once (two) and cannot be re-sold or
used to build commercial products.
Effe-Elle System s.r.l. would like to invite everyone
interested in such a product to stop by their web site, try
out and use the package, available in several formats
(including a self-installing Win32 exe file).
The MaxBase project appeared for the first time
some three years ago, developed as a shareware by
Massimiliano Marsiglietti, when Java was still in its
infancy and has gone through several important upgrades as
the Java platform itself improved. Mr.Marsiglietti has now
joined Effe-Elle System s.r.l. and the development of the
product continues in the new corporate environment with the
same enthusiasm as before.
Effe-Elle System s.r.l., founded in 1993, is a European
software firm (the main offices are at Casalgrande, RE,
Italy) that also provides other computer-related services
such as network and hardware consulting.
