Following a very successful first meeting in January,
WarpUK, a user group for UK OS/2 SOHO users, hobbyists, and
developers is planning a second meeting at IBM's Hursley
Park Site on Thursday 6 May 1999. The meeting will start at
1:00pm and will continue into the evening. Admission,
payable at the door, will be 6ukp for WarpUK members and
10ukp for non-members, with a 50% discount for students and
senior citizens.
A major topic of the meeting will be 'Java and OS/2', but
details for all the speakers and demonstrations are not
confirmed yet. Ideas in the pipeline are comparisons of
popular Windows software and their OS/2 equivalents, and
also more networking demonstrations. We are also
hoping for a demo of the (hopefully) newly released Aurora
GA.
Following the successful inaugural meeting in January,
WarpUK has been fully constituted as a subscription-paying
group with a constitution, bank account and elected
officers. With this next meeting we aim to build on the
success we have achieved so far, and provide a really good
resource for UK based OS/2 users!
Anybody willing to give a presentation would be most
welcome. Other ideas for workshops and demonstrations are
also positively encouraged. Anyone interested should reply
to this email, either to the OS2UK list or directly to Sid
Gale on sidg@btinternet.com or Chris Lindley on
chris@scotgate2.demon.co.uk.
For more details on WarpUK, or for the current status on
the meeting, please go to "www.warp.in-uk.net" Details on
how to get to IBM Hursley Park will be posted on this
website shortly.
If you will be attending or require further details, please
email either Sid Gale on sidg@btinternet.com or
Chris Lindley on chris@scotgate2.demon.co.uk.
