SW: Kernel update: use smp20050318.zip and not 0317

18 Mar 2005 09:12:36

Forwarded message from "Scott G." on Fri, 18 Mar 2005 13:03:41 UTC Posted
on: comp.os.os2.bugs

Someone pointed out that smp20050317.zip did not have the updated kernel.
I rebuilt and posted as smp20050318.zip. This does not affect any other
packages (and the df from 20050317 is correct for smp20050318).

SW: 20050317 kernels with CPU support changes

I'd like some feedback (via news, mostly, please). I put out new kernels
today that *ought* to work on all CPUs (well, not on 386es and not on the
486sx except for the W4 kernel). In particular, the APMA64 hack should no
longer be necessary for P4 and Athlon64 systems.

Let me know....

Thanks in advance to everybody.

17 Mar 2005 14:49:39

From: "Marcus de Geus"

A new build of RexxMail is available from my web site:

<http://www.degeus.com/rexxmail/>

RexxMail is an object-oriented WPS e-mail client, written in REXX, which
uses the standard WPS user interface. It features an extensive range of
functions and options with full command-line access.

Changes since the previous public release:

- Changed register procedure to refuse files that do not look like e-mail
messages.

- Bugfix (RxMlUtil.DLL): Additional call to RxMlUtil.DLL from a concurrent
session would crash session.

- Bugfix: Shortened the toolbar creation parameters list.

- Bugfix: Changed text/HTML-text comparison to avoid duplicate text when
viewing messages.

- Added Frequently asked questions topic to Reference Guide.

- Removed the Accessories folder.

Event: OS/2 and eComStation Developers Workshop - Update

16 Mar 2005 07:19:12

From: os2infoDESPAM@DESPAMgmx.net

There have been quite some updates to the developers workshop homepage
since the workshop was first announced on February 22nd.

Workshop Logo
============
First off all, we do have a workshop logo now. If you are a webmaster and
want to help us tell the OS/2 and eComStation community about this
workshop, feel free to use the logo that can be found on the workshop
homepage.

Announcement Mailing List
=====================
If you plan to attend the workshop, it may be a good idea to join the new
announcement list. The mailing list is for workshop announcements only,
this means that only the organizers of the workshop can post to the list.
You can read more about the list and how to join it on the workshop
homepage.

Registration Information
==================
We have put some information about the registration process online. In a
nutshell, the registration will be via the Mensys Online Shop and we
encourage people to register for the event as early as possible. This is
simply because we need to make arrangements for the number and size of the
rooms that we are renting for the workshop and to this, we need to know
how many people will attend (roughly at least). Online registration will
begin in April.

Updates to the Website
==================
The workshop homepage has significant more content than when it was
announced! That is not to say that the website is complete, but most of
the sections are filled with useful information now. So please, go and
have a second look at the website!

And very important, we can announce the first four presentations.
Additional presentations will follow in the next couple of weeks. We are
already in discussions about very interesting topics!

If you have not yet bookmarked the Developers Workshop Homepage, here is
the URL: http://wiki.netlabs.org/index.php/Developers_Workshop_2005

See you at the workshop!

SW: Operation "Warp" II: REVENGE game released.

15 Mar 2005 08:53:32

From: egDESPAM@DESPAMecomstation.com

eCo Software is glad to announce the release of new game - Operation
"WARP" II: REVENGE.

There are 41 OS/2 creatures in the game executing complete missions:
Validat0r, WiZard, VicTor, MadFibll, sNOa, Digi, ErOs2, Warp5, CaPr|c0rN,
shiz0rat, KuiSa-Ka, Zuko, GlassMan, stVova, Fomalhaut.

For example:

Task No 1.
In short:

You are a novice. Don`t feel hurt, this is not abuse, but a statement of
fact. You can be a pilot and a god blessed engineer, but you can be a
corporate spy... Be quiet, I'm not saying that you actually are a spy. I'm
just making up a story, that you can be a spy. Understand? You can be a
good pilot in a quiet atmosphere, but lose courage in battle. Strange
things take place nowadays. Thats why we cannot give you complicated
missions without serious passes at easy ones. Your first mission will be
the simplest among all, which our drivers carry out. You will deliver our
agent to corporative zone tomorrow morning. Land pepelatz at the parking
area near Murder`s pharmacology headquarters. Do it insensibly, neatly,
without attracting unnecessary attention. Wait while agent returns and get
back with him. He will wait for you at 10.00 G.M.T. near Smitty`s gun
shop.

Missions:
- take agent of underground near Smitty`s gun shop
- deliver agent to corporative parking near Murder`s pharmacology;
- wait while agent returns and get back with him to Smitty`s weapon shop.

Additional infromation:

The game is available for sNOa game pack investors since 14.03.2005.

SW: NVU 0.90 available

14 Mar 2005 21:05:06

Forwarded message from "Peter Weilbacher" on Tue, 15 Mar 2005 01:01:05 UTC
Posted on: news://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.public.mozilla.os2

Hi all,

a new version of NVU, the next generation Mozilla based HTML editor, was
released end of last week, I just finished building an OS/2 version
(static this time) and uploaded it to my webpage (see sig, perhaps you
need to reload the _frame_). This time I took greater care to really
include the German version the first time. I hope I didn't miss something
else instead...

According to Daniel Glazman's blog:

Changelog:
* pinger now allows connection settings
* text selection now allowed in Validator's result window
* DIV now added to Block format dropdown and menu (requested by Beth
Epperson)
* link to "Localizing Nvu" added to Help menu
* Theme Manager was not showing "Restart Nvu to use theme"
* the Link dialog has now a "this is an email address" checkbox so
people don't have to know the syntax of mailto URLs (that's a
VERY frequent feedback)
* the Link dialog can now handle the target attribute in the
MoreOrFewer section
* PHP and Comments now hidden in Preview mode and correctly
displayed in AllTags mode.
* new default theme, icons designed by Linspire Inc.
* Printing was horked. Printing a document was always printing the
document in the last window's tab
* the pinger and the Tip of the Day were not launched if the app
starts with the Site Manager hidden.
* table cell properties were allowing attribute modification only
once
* much faster Source-to-Normal switch
* minor bug fixes

Known problems
* vertical resizing of a table using the mouse also changes the
width of the table by a few pixels
* pasting text in the Source View overwriting an existing selection
has bugs if initial selection was made clicking on line numbers

Let me add that unfortunately the
switch-from-source-view-to-HTML-view-and-back-cursor-position bug was not
fixed. If you care about it, you can use the Help -> Bug report link to
fill a feedback form as the same problem seems to exist on Linux. --
Cheers, Peter.

"WarpIN 1.0.5 released 06.03.2005
WarpIN 1.0.5 got released by Paul Ratcliffe:

This is mainly another round of bug fixing, although one side-effect of
one of the bug fixes is that you can now use "wic" to update archives i.e.
add and delete files, rather than being forced to create your archive all
in one go, so that could be taken as a new feature :-)"

Net: Ham/2 for OS/2 ham radio operators

13 Mar 2005 08:12:51

From: hausmausDESPAM@DESPAMdarktech.org

I was surfing around tonight and I found this great site for ham radio
operators that use OS/2. There's discussion about software that you can
use as well as a list of other OS/2-enabled hams. A very good site to
take a look at if you're a ham radio operator and use OS/2 or eCS.
