ed2_020.zip on hobbes appears to be corrupt. The ed2* in hobbes incoming
is fine, just the other one in the editors directory is corrupt.

Cheers

SW: DFSee version 6.04 released!

02 Apr 2004 16:39:50 -0500

From: "Jan van Wijk"

This is a significant upgrade to the 6.02 version with some new
functionality, many menu additions and some Linux stuff.

If you are using a multi-boot or pure Linux system, check the recognition
of GRUB, LILO, EXT2/3 and the Reiser filesystem!

You also might want to try the 'DFSCHECK' script that does an automatic
analysis of all recognized filesystems on your disks. (As always, use
'DFSCHECK -?' for usage information)

DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With
FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for
HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning. More details at:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee.htm

Direct download links:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee6xx.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee604.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=dfsee

Most important functional changes since 6.02:

- DFSCHECK New CMD/BAT script to 'CHECK' all filesystem partitions, with
log
- DFSCPART New CMD/BAT script to 'CHECK' one filesystem partition, with
log
- DFSDISK* Renamed DFSUNFD* scripts and result files for better
readability
- WIPESECURE new command implementing US-DoD specification secure wiping
- WIPE Added 'r' param for RANDOM pattern (US-DoD specification wipe)
- REISER Added basic recognition module and rudimentary functionality
- EXT2/3 Added basic recognition module and rudimentary functionality
- PART Updated Linux native type 0x83 description and identification
- SET Added 'PEDantic' keyword to switch pedantic ON/OFF
- DISK -r Detailed ext-int13 info in pedantic mode (-p switch)
- MENU Added EXT2/3 and REISER to the Mode= menu selection
- MENU New 'Read-Only, no changes allowed' item in File menu
- MENU New 'Make THIS partition active' to Mode=xxx menus
- MENU New 'Delete THIS partition' to various Mode= menus
- MENU New 'Bootmanager Default' to Edit menu, sets new default
- MENU New 'Bootmanager Timeout' to Edit menu, sets the timeout
- MENU New 'Erase, wipe Freespace-area' to Actions menu
- MENU New 'SECURE wipe current object' to Actions menu
- MENU New 'Change LVM diskname' menu item in Edit menu
- HPFS/FAT Fixed display garbage bug in Fnode/Alloc functions
- CREATE Dialog, set 'clear bootsector' checkbox default OFF
- LVM Accept '-menu' alias for the existing '-m' option
- PART Moved 'active' marker to PID column for readability
- Compiler WATCOM license notices added to 'about' help text
- Compiler changed to Watcom 1.30, for Linux version development
- LOG new -r option, flush on every output fragment (slow)
- CLONE Use HEX partition-type in store-descriptions for consistency

Check DFS*.TXT files for details, all changes listed in DFSHIST.TXT

Registering DFSee will give you the right to use all 6.xx versions and get
support plus a reasonable amount of assistance by email.

But even more important, it enables further development of DFSee!

Regards, Jan van Wijk
