SW: PSPM 1.15

21 Aug 2004 21:23:03

From: "Mark Dodel"

"This program displays a graphical view on the OS/2 or eComStaion process
tree.

PSPM/2 is a clone of an already existing PSPM/2 utility of Seth Eilbott,
included in the OS/2 Developers connection program package (DevCon).
Unfortunately this version has some severe drawbacks:

when the process list data exceeds 8 Kb in size, this program fails to
continue.
officially all programs supplied with the DevCon may only be used by
subscribers of the DevCon program. Beside that the original program may
used IBM internally only

The new PSPM/2 package

can work with process status list of any size
is much easier to configure and use
within a details window displays the threadlist of a process in a list
(much user friendlier than before)
can be used by anyone :-) "

Requires: OS/2 Warp 3 or better

SW: JRescuer updated

18 Aug 2004 22:58:23

From: "Mark Dodel"

"If you are having trouble getting to your data on your JFS partition you
can try and recover/undelete your data with Jrescuer. If you encounter the
rare problem that during a CHKDSK your machine keeps hanging there you can
"unlock" the JFS partition with Jrescuer. In case of an emergency you can
also recover data from a JFS volume even if you don't have JFS.IFS loaded
(the file system driver). You just need to have the file ujfs.dll in your
LIBPATH. This utility can also be used on Linux JFS partitions. It is
however a native OS/2/eComStation program that will not run on Linux.

If you have been able to recover your data from a drive and you would like
to support this project extra you can purchase a sponsor unit. 100% of the
money will be transfered to the developer."

SW: jSyncManager v3.2 alpha 02 released.

17 Aug 2004 08:24:46

Forwarded message from Brad BARCLAY on
Tue, 17 Aug 2004 02:36:09 UTC Posted on: comp.os.os2.misc

Hey Everyone:

Here's a copy of the announcement I posted to the jSyncManager Open
mailing list earlier today:

"The jSyncManager is a open source, Java implementation of a
HotSync-compatible protocol stack, set of data abstraction objects,
development tools, and applications allowing developers and end-users to
synchronize Palm devices with any Java based system."

----------

This notice is to let you know that the jSyncManager v3.2 alpha 02 has
been released.

New items in this release include:

- the ConduitHandler and JHotSync classes now provide support for
accessing the Expansion Manager and VFS data, making access to data and
files on expansion cards possible.

- vCard support has been updated

- the MultiPort Server now supports TCP sync connections

- New jConduit: NetInstaller, which allows for the installation of PRC
and PDB files from over a network through a URL.

- Protocol stack support for CMP Extended packets (necessary to
eventually support "Network HotSync" compatibility)

- Re-arranged the location of some of the data conversion utility classes
from API.Protocol.Util to API.Conduit.Tools

- Modification to the way we do type conversions to enhance performance

- Added a work-around for restoring the Graffiti Shortcuts database.

- Lots of other fixes and performance enhancements.

Also new with this release are with the jSyncManager Bundles, which see
the following changes:

- There is now a platform-neutral bundle, which includes all of the
pre-requisites for the jSyncManager other than the transport APIs (which
are platform specific). This bundle is now runnable as-is; just unzip
and run "java -jar jsyncmanager.jar". You no longer have to copy any
files to your Standard Extensions directory, or to edit your CLASSPATH.

- The Mac OS X bundle now includes all available pre-requisites. (There
is no Java USB API for Mac OS X at this time, and thus this isn't
included. But we're working on it).

- New bundles will be coming soon!

As usual, questions or comments may be directed to this mailing list, or
sent to me at infoDESPAM@jsyncmanager.org.

----------

Of particular interest to OS/2 users, I've started putting together
"bundles" containing everything you need to run the jSyncManager on
various platforms. Today I uploaded one for Mac OS X (because it
actually has a tool to create such Java application bundles -- something
I really wish we had on OS/2!), and one platform neutral one (which
doesn't contain any of the transport connector APIs required to talk to
a serial or USB port). Later this week I intend to put together an OS/2
bundle containing the jSerial API and all other necessary libaraies in a
ready-to-run configuration.

More information on this release when it's available. Until then, if
you're already running the jSyncManager, the v3.2 alpha 02 files are now
available for download from the jSyncManager website
(http://www.jsyncmanager.org).

Brad BARCLAY
Lead Developer & Project Administrator,
