The Notebook/2 site, the greatest and maybe only resource on OS/2 in the notebook computer arena, has further been updated over the last weeks. Some new top end models have been included from IBM to work well with OS/2, even though IBM does not officially support OS/2 on these models. Other info like installation guides can be useful for people who do not work with a notebook computer, too.

Have a look at:

The Warpstock Europe Team is asking you for feedback. What did you like in particular and what not? Do you have any suggestions for improvements? Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Please use our online-forum at the Warpstock Europe home page at:

http://warpstock.os2.org/en/forum/

to submit your comments.

Please provide some details. Of course we also like to hear comments like "Simply great!", but they won't help us much in improving things for next year.

We are also collecting photos for publishing on the Warpstock Europe home page. Please submit thumbnails of the best ones or URLs to access them to: christian.hennecke@ruhr-uni-bochum.de. (Please DO NOT send photos in their original size!)

After an unannounced web server upgrade by my web host, my account has been re-established and the EmuOS/2 homepage (home of the MAME, Retrocade, and SNES9x for OS/2 projects) has been reinstated.

The new address is:

http://www.vintagegaming.com/hosted/emuos2/

Eventually, I'll get my own domain name again with a different URL, but the above URL should continue to work after this happens, so you shouldn't have to go swapping around your bookmarks again.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Nice OS/2 Enhancer, the well-known free utility for improving the OS/2 Presentation Manager, was updated to version 4.3.

Forced compatibility with:
Fix #1 for Aurora - no wallpaper in Rooms (internal security) Lotus WordPro - flicker when printing (very annoying bug) HOBLink X-Server - no "Close window" button (don't know why) lSwitcher - Rooms feature turned OFF (my curve hands)

No new features were added, so program works as stable as possible :-)

You can download version 4.3 (850 KB) from Hobbes:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/nice-os2-v43.zip

Eventually:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/wps/nice-os2-v43.zip

Program URL with more information:

http://os2.boom.ru

The Nice OS/2 Enhancer adds new features to the OS/2 operating system such as the ability to:

Move an image into all windows by means of mouse or keys,
Change frames for all windows,
Extend your workplace by new "Rooms" around the Desktop,
Define keys to perform various actions,
Attach any network drive or FTP folder from file dialogs,
Manage the priority for some applications,
Remove items from the Window list,
Arrange text, WPS and Java windows by center of the screen,
Hold "Num Lock" always "ON" or "OFF",
...and more.

I use it day by day and think that this is a great "run-time" Fix for OS/2 Warp.

I've compiled limited version mod_jk module from Jakarta Tomkat 3.2.

http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/

I just remove load balancing and inprocess (JNI) worker support. This module work with Apache 1.3.12 or 1.3.14 for OS/2 but it was not tested and I don't going to test it here :-).

If anybody would like to try it just send me message.

Tucows has decided to restore their OS/2 software archive!

You will find the OS/2 section, now under the "Tucows Classic OS" section, along with ... Windows 3.1 (!!) at the following URL:

http://classic.tucows.com/os2soft.html

(Yes, they seem to think that our beloved 32-bits, multithreading since april 1992, object-oriented interface operating sytem is somehow comparable to microsoft's single-threading, cooperative multitasking windows 3.1 shell on top of MS-DOS).

This is a good start, however I'd like to see the OS/2 Tucows mirrored worldwide (like it was when the section was created) and listed along the "Java Tucows" and "BeOS Tucows" sections on the main page, not hidden in the back.

Imho, anyone who shares these concerns should politely write a "thank you" letter expressing our joy to see the OS/2 section restored (along with any constructive criticism) to feedback@tucows.com.

The October issue of OS/2 eZine (http://www.os2ezine.com), though late, is finally live... except for one article, which should be posted no later than Friday.

In this issue we take a look at some of the latest information concerning eComStation, how to create PDF files using GSView under OS/2, another Warpstock interview, and further installments in the "Hands on your home page" and "Into Java" columns.

Finally: The Team Trier Collection Vol.7 CDROM for OS/2 is now available!

For only DM 10/EUR 5 it includes (among lots of other share- & freeware, demos, etc.):

- Fixpak 14 for Warp 4 (German and English)
- Fixpak 4 for DB2
- SmartSuite 1.51 Update (German and English)
- StarOffice 5.1a Update
- CrystalSpace 0.17

Two comfortable menu-systems, a HTML interface that can be used with any web browser and a PM program, developed specially for the TTC, support you at selecting and installing the programs.

As always the FixPaks may be most easily installed directly from the CD.

For more information and the complete list of contents see the webpages of Team OS/2 Region Trier e.V. at:

http://www.teamos2.ipcon.de/

(Note: This CDROM may be of interest only to German-speaking or at least European customers: Though most of the documentation and the installation-programs on the CD are now also available in English the shipping charges may get really steep outside of Europe...)
