Most old Sierra games work, but without Soundblaster sound. The drivers were extremly buggy, so I wrote a patcher for them.

This patcher has some IQ routine, which has the ability to patch almost ANY Sierra Realmode Soundblaster driver. Games work (after patching) under DOS and OS/2 with 100% Soundblaster sound.

Call it under (M)-DOS on command-line and use the driver's name as parameter.

Feedback appreciated

Download it under:

A new X-chat has been released by Platon. X-chat is a Xfree86OS/2 IRC program, that needs a X-Server like Xfree86OS/2 or HOBLink X11 to run. It also requires Gnome/Gtk to work.

We also need people who would like to create WarpIN packages for GNOME stuff and people who could write how to's etc. If you could do this mail:

This might be of interest for all OS/2 users that have a Dawicontrol DC2976UW SCSI Controller and plan to either apply FP14 or install WSeB / eCS...:

If you get a TRAP C after applying FP14 (using the native driver DC2976.ADD) try using Symbios' drivers for the SYM53C875 Chipset ("SYMC8XX.ADD"). If this gives you intermittent hangs on the SCSI bus, try using JJSCDROM.DMD instead of OS2CDROM.DMD. This finally solved the problem for my system.

According to DawiControl's helpline the TRAP C is a known problem with the aurora kernel, but due to a forthcoming U160+ controller deployment they have no resources left to fix this right now.

My fifth article on remote-booting diskless Windows workstations from OS/2 Warp Server is available at

http://www.matem.unam.mx/~micho/ripl5.html

The article describes new class of Windows RIPL requesters, based on a bootable virtual 16MB superfloppy that holds the whole Windows nucleus (GUI+32-bit networking). The nucleus is used to boot the client and connect to the OS/2 Server in 32-bit mode.

The sixth RIPL article (which is in preparation) will deal with diskless systems booting Windows Millennium from OS/2 Warp Server. For now,

http://www.matem.unam.mx/~micho/ripl6.html

explains in detail how to enable real-mode DOS support in WinME. This is a very important step in setting up diskless WinME requesters RIPLing from OS/2 Server, but I think this simple and elegant procedure has an independent interest...
