SW: New FAT32 driver (Version 0.99) at Netlabs

28 May 2004 16:39:36 -0500

From: "David Graser"

The FAT32 dev group is happy to announce that we have a new version of the
FAT32 driver at Netlabs.

http://fat32.netlabs.org/?show=download

Version 0.99:

-CACHEF32.EXE caused a continuously beep if a copy of CACHEF32.EXE was
already loaded and the current CP was different from a copy of FAT32 IFS.
Fixed.

-Case conversion of national characters worked only for ASCII below 128.
Introduced in version 0.98b. Fixed.

-Sometimes copies of the FATs did not match each other or 'lost cluster'
occurred after copy operation with cache enabled. Fixed (maybe workaround
?). Unfortunately, cache performance is decreased as a result.

-Replaced legacy DBCS APIs with ULS APIs.

-Added /H option to FAT32.IFS to allocate cache memory in high memory
(>16MB). This should take care of the 'linalloc' problem.

-Added /F option to CACHEF32.EXE to force CACHEF32.EXE to be loaded
without any FAT32 partition. Hopefully, this option can help people who
use removable media formatted FAT32.

-Added a feature to clear fForceLoad flag to '/N' option of CACHEF32.EXE.

-FAT32.IFS process parameters are no longer case sensitive.

A special Note:

The driver loads whether it finds a FAT32 partition on bootup or not. The
new /f forces the cache to be loaded also.

This driver works with USB Flash sticks formatted FAT32, however, it does
not work with all. Stay away from Pony Attache flash media. After much
testing amd reviewing logs, the flash media not recognized is believed to
be caused by another driver. Personally, I believe that this driver may
be USBMSD.SYS driver. Some of the flash sticks cannot be read properly.

I have has success with a USB 2.0 Sandisk 125 MB flash stick.

SW: Maul Publisher V2.29 (EN & DE)

27 May 2004 16:18:00 -0500

From: "Peter Koller"

Maul Publisher V2.29 for OS/2 or eCS (and V2.28 for Windows) have recently
been released. Maul Publisher is aimed at anyone needing to quickly
create pleasing and sophisticated publications, without the high cost of
one of the industry leading packages. It is aimed at anyone wanting to
quickly create printed presentations, club magazines, business cards, cd
inlays, or posters.
Many cheaper desktop publishers offer little more than can be achieved
with a modern word processor, whereas Maul is quite simply one of the
most powerful DTP applications available today.

This includes:-

(English 7Mb) http://www.manglais.com/download/MAULE229EN.ZIP (Deutsch
7Mb) http://www.manglais.com/download/MAULE229DE.ZIP (Win 5Mb)
http://www.manglais.com/download/MAULW228EN.ZIP

This version fixes the following items.

* Fixes file corruption caused by bitmap handler.
(Empty bitmaps caused a file corruption giving rise to linkage
failures.)
* Fixes pdfmark.dll installation.
* Fixed scaling for unequal printer dpi properties.

A new multilingual installer creates desktop icons in the correct
language. You may need to uninstall before reinstalling to get the
correct names in the German version.

A larger number of resellers can now sell you a license for Maul. Please
see the product web page http://www.manglais.com/products.html for
further details.

As usual:- Enjoy!

SW: jSyncManager v3.2 alpha 01 released.

27 May 2004 09:19:57 -0500

From: Brad BARCLAY

Hey Everyone:

The jSyncManager Development Team is pleased to announce the release of
the jSyncManager v3.2 alpha 01.

This release incorporates all fixes and new features implemented since
the v3.0 release last fall. Important new features include the
FotoReader jConduit for camera-enabled handhelds, the new TCP transport
for network-based synchronization, and many new API features for
developers.

You can download the latest release through both our homepage and
SourceForge project sites, via:

http://www.jsyncmanager.org
http://sf.jsyncmanager.org

Those upgrading from v3.0 neeed to be warned that v3.2 alpha 01 is the
first release to see a packaging change separating the API and core
jConduits from the Core Application Set package. This has been done to
make the jSyncManager install options more flexable, and to put a better
separation between items with different licenses (as the API is licensed
differently from the Core Application Set and Core jConduits). It does
mean, however, that there is no longer a single-file download for the
jSyncManager, but instead a three-file download (the CAS, API, and
jConduits).

As always, questions or comments about this release can be posted to the
jSyncManager online forums (through http://sf.jsyncmanager.org ),
e-mailed to myself ( bbarclayDESPAM@jsyncmanager.org ).

Brad BARCLAY
Lead Developer & Project Administrator,
The jSyncManager Project.

SW: AIM OS/2 client update

24 May 2004 10:50:49 -0500

From: Marty on Mon, 24 May 2004 09:05:17 UTC Posted to: comp.os.os2.apps

This week's improvements on my AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) client
include:

* Fixed a bug in IM sending that will cause some messages to
be garbled or truncated.
* Added a filter feature to the buddy list to filter out
users who are away or offline to keep them from cluttering
up your buddy list. (When users go online they become
visible again.)
* Modified IM window to instantly send a message when you
press ENTER.
* Modified IM window so that the icon of the window
represents the status of the user you're IM'ing.
* Prevented attempts to send messages to users who go offline
while an IM window is opened.

http://mamodeo.dyndns.org/MrMessage_srcbin_05242004.zip

Currently, this program is functional enough to use for AIM text
messaging, and can successfully communicate with Java, Win32, and Linux
clients. It's not even close to finished yet, though, so keep looking for
more features in the coming weeks. Still no documentation yet, but if you
have any questions or comments, feel free to write me an e-mail.
[Moderator note: Since this was not posted to this list by the author, I
removed Marty's email address. If you want to get in touch with him,
please post to comp.os.os2.apps ]
