Forwarded message from "Dr. Ash" on Sat, 7
May 2005 10:36:16 UTC Posted on: comp.os.os2.mail-news

Hi all.

This is just the usual note to announce that I've uploaded Pine 4.63 for
OS/2 to Hobbes, including an OS/2 port of the University of Washington
mail servers.

Hobbes search: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=pine
Download:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/mail/reader/pine463.zip

All the details are available from the usual place:

http://www.zeta.org.au/~nps/software/pine/en/index.html

There are no OS/2-specific changes from 4.62. General changes can be found
at the University of Washington's site:

http://www.cac.washington.edu/pine/changes.html

Nick S.

"Pine is a well-known and well-loved text-based e-mail client. It can
access POP3 and IMAP mail servers, as well as act as a client for NNTP
news servers. It also comes with the simple text editor Pico and file
browser Pilot. The University of Washington also provides POP2, POP3 and
IMAP mail servers with its c-client software."

HW: Tim's Warped Bargains: More on HP 2550L Color LaserJet

09 May 2005 09:04:15

++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Timothy Sipples

Dear Bargain Hunters,

The $299.98 price is indeed excellent for the HP LaserJet 2550L color
printer, but I neglected to mention some more ways you can bring that
price down.

1. HP has a trade-in program if you have an older LaserJet printer. You
can get another $125 off the price of this printer. Details here:

http://www.hp.com/united-states/tradein/promo/laserjet/index.html?aoid=15536

It may be worth buying an old printer just to get the trade-in!

2. If you can order this printer from Staples online, you can visit
http://www.fatcash.com first then click through to Staples in order to get
a 3% rebate. (I'm not sure how fast Staples.com will sell out or if this
sale is available online.)

3. Alternatively, you can get 12% off by using the Customer Appreciation
Card:

http://www.staplescentral.com/customerAppreciation/customerappreciation.htm

Note that you will likely need to be a member of Staples Business
Advantage to take advantage of this offer. (If you work for a company
which can join or which is already a member, you're all set.)

So your final (pre-tax) price is approximately....

$299.98 - $ 9.00 ( 3% rebate)
(OR - $ 36.00 (12% rebate) )
- $125.00 ( HP rebate)
= $165.98 (OR $138.98)

Good luck!

08 May 2005 19:41:51

++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: "Jan van Wijk"

DFSee version 7.04 has been released today, a minor update

A bug with commandline HISTORY and prefixes was solved as
well as some other small ones, and the distribution has
been updated with:

- Standard distribution available as dfsee7xx.zip AND dfsee704.zip

- The return of dfsee7xx_linux.tgz, a Linux TARBAL archive

- The CDR-ISO download is 'USB' ready, with the right USB drivers
(downloaded by YOU) and a special tool to insert these into the
ISO file, will allow access to USB drives and memory when booted
from the CDROM. Great for backups to USB 2.0 harddrives :-)

DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With
FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for
HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning. More details at:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee.htm

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee704.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=dfsee

Most important functional changes since 7.03:

- CLONE -!- option skips the main dialog (clone -!- -p:pid)
- DFSDISK Added 'pt -r' display to show all existing LVM info
- HISTORY prefixed history popup (F11) retrieval bugs fixed
- MENU Added Recover/Init LVM DLAT sector to LVM submenu
- MFT NTFS Fixed display bug after PART -r or RESTORE command
