Letters, Addendum, Errata

September 10, 1999 - The following letter is in regard to last month's article by Herbert Anderson What do I use OS/2 for? http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0899H/vnewsf6.htm.

Gentlemen

First I would like to thank you both For the time and effort that
went into the August 1999 voice newsletter. I read Herbert's article and
was glad to see a reference to am-tax. I used it last year to do my
taxes. Sorry to see BT&T TAXDOLLARS drop there fine tax program.

It now looks as though the potability AM may drop support for
am-tax DOS VERSION in 2000. I just received the order brochure from AM
software. A windows version for 95 or 98 is in the works.

Thank you for your time
Tom

Herb's response: "Thank you for your response, appreciation, and feedback to us. It is disappointing to eventually lose a simple yet effective program that AM-Tax offers. I will ask AM-Tax if they would also consider an OS/2 or a Java version which would be accessible by OS/2 in place of DOS. If not, I may be forced to use a web site income tax package."

Editor's note: If anyone knows of a DOS/Windows/or OS/2 Tax application or has used a web based tax preparation service, and would like to write about it, please drop me a line. The VOICE Newsletter covered several such packages, including Herb's original review of AMTax, in the January 1999 issue - http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0199H/vnewsf.htm as well as a DOS/Windows package ExcelTax in the February 1999 issue - http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0299H/vnewsf6.htm
