WorkPlaceCalendar (WPC) is an object which creates a calendar object on
your desktop.
The calendar object shows the day in object icon and a month calendar in
object text.
Further WPC supports:
- german and english language,
- display of weeks beginning with monday and sunday,
- display of week days and week count of year
- red icons for sundays.
This is a test version.

Download:
http://www.subsys.de/WPWeather/download/wpcal03.zip
There is no documentation yet. Just unzip and start the cmd file to create
or update the object. Feel free to place a shadow in you start up folder,
so the object will be updated at system start. To switch the week start
from monday to sunday you have to edit a switch in the CMD file.

2005-09-24
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++
From: Paul Smedley
Hi All,
I've just compiled the latest (v1.10.1) version of wget for OS/2 &
eComStation and added it to my website at
http://smedley.info/os2ports.html
For those that don't know, wget is a free software package for retrieving
files using HTTP, HTTPS and FTP, the most widely-used Internet protocols.
It is a non-interactive commandline tool, so it may easily be called from
scripts, cron jobs, terminals without X-Windows support, etc.
More information on wget is available from
http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/wget.html
For those that can't read the readme.os2 file, this build requires
libc06r1.dll which can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/wvgui/libc06r1.zip
Cheers,
Paul.

Requires libc06r1.dll available from http://smedley.info/libc06r1.zip
Completely untested by me, as I have no need for rsync, but compiled due
to a request from Piggy (www.ecomstation.org webmaster and all round good

NcFTP Client (also known as just NcFTP) is a set of FREE application
programs implementing the File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
The current version is: 3.1.9 (April 6, 2005). A minor security change was
posted for the 3.1.5 release.
The program has been in service on UNIX systems since 1991 and is a
popular alternative to the standard FTP program, /usr/bin/ftp. NcFTP
offers many ease-of-use and performance enhancements over the stock ftp
client, and runs on a wide variety of UNIX platforms as well as operating
systems such Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X.
Built directly from source with no modifications to the source necessary.

| SW: Firefox 1.5b1 & the IDN buffer overflow security issue |
2005-09-26
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++
From: "Sander Nyman"<2sanderDESPAM@DESPAMsbcglobal.net>
While the Mozilla suite version 1.7.12, and Firefox 1.0.7 both address the
IDN buffer overflow security issue, it should be noted that the next
generation Firefox 1.5b1 was released just prior to the availablity of the
patch. If you have tried Firefox 1.5b1, and just can't go back to the
1.0.x version (hey, I'm with you), the problem is easily resolved. The
following work around has been posted by Mozilla:
1. Type about:config into the address field and hit Enter.
2. In the Filter toolbar, type network.enableIDN.
3. Right click on the the network.enableIDN item and select toggle to
change value to false.
To verify the fix, be sure to restart the browser and then follow these
steps.
1. Type about:config into the address field and hit Enter.
2. In the Filter toolbar, type network.enableIDN.
3. Ensure that the the value for this item is set to false.

Sander

out Franz Bakan's port of gocr, however then noticed that it's a little
out of date. Therefore, I grabbed the source for 0.40 and built it with
Innotek GCC v3.3.5r1
As per my other ports, this requires libc06r1.dll - available from

gocr itself is available from http://smedley.info/os2ports.html
This built from source with no changes required for OS/2.

| SW: DFSee 7.13 released; the Warpstock edition :-) |
2005-09-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++
From: "Jan van Wijk"
DFSee version 7.13 has been released today
This is a minor upgrade, with just a few fixes.
The main reson for the release is synchronizing with the
open TxWindows text-mode userinterface libray version 1.0
That library is open-source now, to be demonstrated
and explained at Warpstock USA in Hershey next week.
DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With
FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for
HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning.
For people familiar with older versions of DFSee (5.xx and older :-) it
will be good to know that the menu-system introduced in version 6, and
greatly expanded in version 7, makes the program a whole lot easier to
use!

Or from the HOBBES website:

- NTFS DIRTY command, synchronize mirror-MFT on MFT 0..3 too
- NTFS Avoid related MFT display recursion in any case
