++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Marcus de Geus

A new build of RexxMail is available from my web site:

<http://www.degeus.com/rexxmail/>

RexxMail is an object-oriented WPS e-mail client, written in REXX,
which uses the standard WPS user interface. It features an extensive
range of functions and options with full command-line access.

New in this release:
- Bugfix: ShadowSend operation depended on ShadowView definition.
- Changed Quiet setting to Silent to avoid a problem with CMD.EXE.
- Simplified UseCurrentDir setting to apply to message creation only.
- (Reference) Removed references to non-existent settings.

Best regards,

SW: ScummVM 0.8.2 Released

2006-02-09
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Paul Smedley

Hi All,

Just a short note to advise that ScummVM 0.8.2 has been released and
is available for OS/2 from http://www.scummvm.org

Feedback about the OS/2 build can be sent to me at paul at smedley dot
info.

Note that some sourceforge mirrors may not yet have the OS/2 binary
available, it is definitely available from the 'Switch' and 'Heanet'
mirrors.

>From the website:
Feb. 8th, 2006: ScummVM 0.8.2 "Broken Broken Sword 2" released

Due to a bug discovered in 0.8.1, which rendered Broken Sword 2
unplayable, we're forced to release ScummVM 0.8.2 "Broken Broken Sword
2". Also, we used this opportunity to fix the WinCE builds, as well as
the MacOS X bundle.

As usual, you can get builds for all supported platforms on our
downloads page at http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical
point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data
files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the
executables shipped with the game, allowing you to play them on
systems for which they were never designed!

ScummVM lets you run these adventures: Adventure Soft's Simon the
Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and
Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the
Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM
(Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system. SCUMM is used for
many games, including Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max
and more. Compatibility with supported games is continually improving,
so check back often.

Among the systems on which you can play those games are Windows,
Linux, Mac OS X, Dreamcast, PocketPC, PalmOS, AmigaOS, BeOS, OS/2,
PSP, PS2, SymbianOS/EPOC and many more...

Hi All

This application is designed to help (re)configure USB drivers and
devices. It is not designed to install USB drivers, the drivers must
already be installed - it should help sort out driver parameters so
the drivers become useful though :-)

Please read the Readme.txt file included in the package before
attempting to install and use the application as this details any
changes in installation and behaviour.

SW: USB "configurator" beta5a available

2006-02-12
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Peter Brown

Hi All

Beta5a is now available.

This rectifies a glaring error regarding the UHCI Controllers
Installed quantity - if your system uses UHCI Controllers the Quantity
was displayed as 0 and the UHCI Quantity was added to the OHCI Quantity.

Not sure how that crept in. I probably missed it here because my
system only has 1 EHCI and 1 OHCI Controller...

No other errors spotted or reported to date though.

Event: SCOUG February Meeting: A Plethora of Demos and Programming

2006-02-12
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Tom Brown

Saturday, February 18th, 9:30 AM - 1 PM

February is demo month combined with a bit of power programming show
and tell.

Postponed from last month, Jerry Rash has been experimenting with USB
cameras. He's ready to show us what fun he's having with them.

Tony Butka has promised to both come to the meeting and to demo
something interesting, but to date has refused to tell us what he is
going to demo. No worries. Tony's presentations are always
interesting. This one is sure to be no different.

Lynn Maxon has decided it would a worthy venture to port VIM using the
OpenWatcom development tools. This month he's going to show us the
results, to date, of this venture. It will be interesting to compare
his results with Greg's results using the GCC tools. For those of you
that missed Greg's presentations, VIM is an enhanced version of the
classic VI editor, which has been around since the early days of UNIX.

If there's time, maybe we can convince Sheridan to give us an update
on the status of his solid-state computer. Last month we had hardware
issues that prevented the eCS install attempts from running to
completion..

We will have a Q&A session too, so have your questions ready.

See you on Saturday, February 18th. Don't forget to bring some room
for donuts and coffee!

at the Grace Ministries Complex

SW: Updates of unofficial SeaMonkey, PmW-Fx, and PmW-Tb

2006-02-12
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Peter Weilbacher
Posted on news://number1.nntp.dca.giganews.com/mozilla.dev.ports.os2

Dear all,

if you go to by builds webpage (see sig), and as usual reload the
frame you will find new releases of all my unofficial Mozilla based
programs (SeaMonkey, PmW-Fx, and PmW-Tb). They are all built from
exactly the same codebase so running the concurrently should not
require Run!, all still require the libc05.dll from Innotek.

Changes from previous releases:
- Workaround fix for the attachment-related crashes, WPS objects are
still picked up using Rich's RWS code, (remote) icons are not (all)
- Fixed slow display of ibsensoftware.com webpage (SeaMonkey, PmW-Fx)
- Fix remaining SVG issues (PmW-Fx)
- Fix scrollbarbutton display (PmW-Tb)
- Perhaps fix LDAP autocomplete (SeaMonkey, PmW-Tb)
- Installer EXE now also installs lxLite-compressed files (SeaMonkey)
- merged ReadMe.* with README.txt, and changed it to include new
newsgroup name
- security fixes and minor changes picked up with normal Mozilla.org
changes since the last releases.

I also spent lots of time to create update packages for all ZIP build
lovers that should work if you unzip them into the existing directory.
(I hope nobody tries to unzip over Mozilla 1.7.x!)

SW: BInd 9.3.2 now available

2006-02-13
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Paul Smedley

Hi All,

I finally got around to updating by build of Bind 9.3.2rc1 to the GA
version, and it's now available from http://smedley.info/os2ports.html

For those that don't know what Bind is/does:
BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) is an implementation of the
Domain Name System (DNS) protocols and provides an openly
redistributable reference implementation of the major components of
the Domain Name System, including:

* a Domain Name System server (named)
* a Domain Name System resolver library
* tools for verifying the proper operation of the DNS server

The BIND DNS Server is used on the vast majority of name serving
machines on the Internet, providing a robust and stable architecture
on top of which an organization's naming architecture can be built.
The resolver library included in the BIND distribution provides the
standard APIs for translation between domain names and Internet
addresses and is intended to be linked with applications requiring
name service.

Questions regarding the OS/2 port can be send to me at
paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info

If people want to help support continued ports, they can send a
donation using the link at http://smedley.info/os2ports.html

Cheers,

Paul Smedley
