Dosboxfrontend 4.5 is on hobbes now.

Major update, few bug fixes

rewrote the templates routines and added a use mounts from template
checkbox. when selected it imports the mount points from the template. now
loading a template does not alter the program section, so when there is a
program then then you can load a template, run the program to tres, load
another template and run the program again and so on. to test with what
template it runs the best, thats what the template is supposed to do :)

March 7, 2007 SeaMonkey 1.1.1 has been released.

Readme:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/1.1.1/contrib/seamonkey-1.1.1.en-US.os2.README

"OS/2 builds created from CVS tag SEAMONKEY_1_1_1_RELEASE without any
changes from official sources. The .mozconfig used is included below. Cairo
support is not yet activated for OS/2, so these packages do not support SVG
or Canvas.

Download zip:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/1.1.1/contrib/seamonkey-1.1.1.en-US.os2.zip

MD5:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/1.1.1/contrib/seamonkey-1.1.1.en-US.os2.MD5SUMS

From the included readme.txt:

"* OS/2
- This release requires updated C runtime DLLs (libc-0.5.1) from
http://www.innotek.de/products/gccos2/download/gccos2download_e.html
in order to run. By default the installation routine places them in
\OS2\DLL on your bootdrive, but you can put them in the same
directory as SeaMonkey's executable, or somewhere else in your
LIBPATH. The SeaMonkey installer will not install the C runtime DLLs
for you but requires them to run.

- Minimum hardware requirements
+ Pentium class processor
+ 64 MiB RAM plus 64 MiB free swap space
+ 35 MiB free harddisk space for installation
plus storage space for disk cache and mail

- Recommended hardware for acceptable performance
+ 500 MHz processor
+ 256 MiB RAM plus 64 MiB free swap space
NOTE: SeaMonkey's performance and stability increases the more
physical RAM is available. Especially for long browsing and IRC
sessions 512 MiB of memory is recommended.

- Software requirements
+ Installation on a file system supporting long file names
(i.e. HPFS or JFS but not FAT)
+ OS/2 Warp 4 with Fixpack 15 or later
+ MPTS version 5.3
+ TCP/IP version 4.1
+ INETVER: SOCKETS.SYS=5.3007, AFOS2.SYS=5.3001, AFINET.SYS=5.3006
NOTE: Do not attempt to use MPTS & TCP/IP versions below these
INETVER levels. Although SeaMonkey may seem to start and run
normally with older stacks, some features SeaMonkey needs are not
implemented correctly in older MPTS versions, which may result in
crashes and data loss.

+ Convenience Pack 2 or eComStation 1.0 or later meet these requirements
out of the box."

SW: Maul Publisher scanner fix 3097fix311

2007-03-11
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: "Peter Koller"

Maul Publisher V3.11-02.3.7Ge
========================
Maul Publisher is an industrial strength desktop publisher capable of
creating virtually all of the printing seen on everyday household items.You
can use it to easily lay out newspapers, cards, books, labels, stamps,
posters, charts, forms, and even designs like building plans or furniture
arrangements.

Further information
===============
For more information and screenshots see
http://www.manglais.com/promo/maul.html

Product, download, purchase and other web pages can all be accessed via
http://www.manglais.com/subs/php/product.php?MAULE300

Fix required when using scanners
==========================
Maul V3.11 can hang for some people. It's to do with looking for scanners:-

void ListAllTwainDevices(void)
{
DSM_Entry(...MSG_GETFIRST ...);
do {...} while(TWRC_SUCCESS == DSM_Entry(...MSG_GETNEXT...);
}

....unfortunately, I never get back the code TWRC_ENDOFLIST. So it just goes
around and around forever....

This workaround sets a maximum limit of 10 scanners (you have more than
that? :-) . Maul.exe is replaced, so the version number rises to
V3.11-09.3.7Ge

The fixpack can be downloaded by running 'Check for updates' from within
Maul Publisher, or you can download it manually:-

Net: Let's gather ACPI events

2007-03-12
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Eugene Gorbunoff

When do you need ACPI? It is obligatory for any modern notebook and desktop.
* ACPI initializes your motherboard/notebook properly
* It is useful to configure hardware (via ACPI snooper) or run
"obstinate" computer (with broken ACPI DSDT tables)
* It allows startup Multi Processor / Multi Core machine and feel the
power of eComStation true multithreading and multitasking
* Provides Power control for notebooks and desktops (battery indicator,
throttling control)
* Control of idle state
* Indicators of system state

If you need new utility which allows easily switch power consumption,
please join testing (ASUS and Lenovo thinkpads).

T e s t i n g -- If ACPI.PSD is working fine on your notebook and
GetNotify.exe and EmbeddedEvent.exe catch events (brightness, LCD on/off,
multimedia keys) then
* Download ACPI Manager
(http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=down), Start it, press
OK, exit. Find .dat and .dsl files in the directory of ACPI Manager.
* Collect codes (switch to AC, to battery; Brigthness, Volume, LCD
On/off, notebook cover close/open, power button) generated by
util\GetNotify.exe, util\EmbeddedEvent.exe
* Find a super button on your notebook. For example Thinkpad is equipped
with Access IBM button (http://ecomstation.ru/temp/200703/Access-IBM.jpg)
* Send us the logs, codes and information about super button.

D e e p t e s t i n g -- If ACPI.PSD is working but events are not caught then
* You should have experience how to install ACPI.PSD, how to make acpica
log, how to send zip files via email.
* Join #ecolabs irc-channel (irc://irc.ecomstation.com/ecolabs), download
configured irc-client (http://ecomstation.ru/download/openchat-20070217.zip)
* Check if your notebook has fixed DSDT table at
http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/view.php Inform us if your notebook has
fixed DSDT table.
* You should have notebook available in your hands, stay at irc-channel
for 2-3 days, 3 hours per day.
* And you should be ready to work in stress mode 1 hour per day (execute
commands and send logs to the developers)

Send logs to: support at ecomstation dot ru (rename .zip files to .ziq)

P.S. ACPI is the main component of eComStation v.next, to get access to the
drivers, please extend your eComStation Software Subscription.

SW: New enhanced Releases of Mozilla

2007-03-12
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Mark Dodel

[Moderator note: Please send all comments and problem reports to the news
group news://news.mozilla.org/mozilla.dev.ports.os2 ]

As some of you have already noticed, I have built the official SeaMonkey
1.1.1 last week. It is linked from
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/releases/, I hope the link on the
ports page will follow. For those who still use SeaMonkey 1.0.x, you will
find the corresponding release of that on
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/releases/1.0.8.html

I also updated all packages of my enhanced releases, find them linked from
http://pmw-warpzilla.sourceforge.net/ They don't contain (m)any OS/2
specific changes but I have now switched to use high-memory as the default
and only build option for SeaMonkey 1.1.x. And they pick up all the
security changes done by mozilla.org since the December release.

I should note that I am not too happy about the "Gecko 1.8.1.2+" release.
The applications should work well enough but they have weird version
numbers that might confuse extensions (one might have to edit install.rdf
inside the .jar files) etc. This is because I tried to build them again
from the same source tree but there is no single source tree available to
cover release versions of all these apps... Hopefully the next releases of
the apps will converge to a common date...

From: Mark Dodel

I do the best I can to protect the list from SPAM, but it appears that
several ISPs are now blocking the VOICE News. Of late it appears that
deltrak.demon.co.uk, fastwebnet.it and charter.net addresses are blocking
the News list posts. I have made some attempts at getting it unblocked but
I'm not sure if these will work. If you learn that your ISP is planning on
arbitrarily blocking posts that it filters please be aware that if posts
from the VOICE news list are blocked I will make an effort to contact you
or your ISP to have it unblocked but if that doesn't work you will be
unsubscribed.

SW: DFSee 8.12 released

2007-03-13
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Jan van Wijk

[Moderator note: This post should have gone out on 3/5/2007 but was
inadvertently missed. I apologize for the delay. ]

DFSee 8.12 has just been released.

Menu additions, display enhancements, (NTFS) resizing refinements and
several small fixes and updates.

Some info on creating a bootable USB-stick with OS/2 and DFSee (with a link
to more info) is now part of the DFSee HOWTO at:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/howto.htm#usbootlf

DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning, filesystem
and disk analysis, file recovery, UNDELETE for HPFS JFS, and NTFS,
resizing, imaging, cloning and sector editing.

More details at:
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/

Direct download links from the DFSee website:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx.zip

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx.msi
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx_warpin.exe
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx_iso.zip
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx_dsk.zip

Note: Most of these can also be downloaded using '812'
instead of the generic '8xx' version number

Or from the HOBBES website:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee812.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=dfsee

Most important functional changes since 8.11:

- CD Display current working directory without an error
- CHECK NTFS, fix alloc error messages on split-tree DIR
- CR dlg Fix size=1 sticking after a BMGR partition is made
- FORMAT Use drive locking during format (on OS2 and Windows)
- LOCK Support lock-by-driveletter for large floppy format
- LVM dlg Update of driveletters works again (bug in 8.11)
- MAP Fixed display of driveletter line with 'map * +'
- MENU Display -> Other partition views; fixed, better help
- MENU Mode=FDISK -> Set Partition -> Not active, clear flag
- NTFS Recognize Windows Vista NTLDR sectors (named BOOTMGR)
- PART LVM column aligned if > 98 cols, using max 114 cols
- PART -b Align freespace lines for Linux in its default table
- RESIZE Allow '*' for default/maximum size in the dialog
- RESIZE NTFS, avoid empty bitmap extent on expanding the FS
- RESIZE NTFS, avoid extra bitmap flushing after updating it
- STORE Better understandable store description texts
- WIPE -V Perform an all-sector verify by reading back

Known bug (in version 8.11 and 8.12)
When creating LVM/JFS volumes (type 35) with DFSee, do NOT check both:

( ) Create NEW mode, clear existing bootsector and old LVM info

and

[x] Include LVM information

Since that currently interferes with creating the extra info. This problem
is under investigation and wil be solved in 8.13. Using either one of them
is OK, but not both at the same time.
