SW: French Languge avialable for SigmaMD5

2006-11-24
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Keith Merrington, posted on comp.os.os2.apps

As of today (21/11/06) I the French languge files in the form of one DLL
file and one HLP have been uploaded to Hobbes and are currently residing in
the pub/incoming directory but will probably be moved to the
/pub/os2/util/misc area within the next few days.

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/new/SigmaFR.zip

The languge files are only suitable for SigmaMD5 ver 1.41 or higher.
SigmaMD5 Reads & Creates MD5 checksum files. Is compatable with the output
of Linux GNU MD5SUM and can check the eCs CD's for correct data using the
MD5 checksum list files on the CD's. Provides a clear visual indication of
checksum status (error's etc.) as well as error sorting, file filtering and
comprehensive logging facilities. Currently supports Chinese, Dutch,
English, French, German, Italian, and Swedish.

From: Mark Dodel

Website: http://uniaud.netlabs.org

"UNIAUD is a generic OS/2 MMPM audio driver that supports the vast majority
of audio hardware.
Based on the Linux ALSA project, it is designed to address the needs of
enterprises and SoHo/Endusers running the IBM OS/2 platform. Its
sophisticated architecture minimizes development effort for the support of
new audio hardware and ensures both high quality and current OS/2 support
without the amount of work normally involved in creating an OS/2 audio
device driver."

There is a new update to the UNIAUD AC'97 sound driver on the Netlabs' FTP

SW: DFSee support will continue shortly ...

2006-11-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Jan van Wijk

Hi all,

As some you may have heard I had a mishap at Warpstock Europe causing my
left thigh bone (femur) to break in two places, just under the hip.

After being in the hospital for 11 days, I was transferred from Cologne
yesterday, laying flat in an ambulance all the way :-)

The complete recovery may take up to three months.

Anyway, I will not be at the computer for very long each day I guess, but
will try to slowly catch up with DFSee support over the next few weeks.

Thanks for your understanding, JvW

SW: Alpha of cups+esp ghostscript+gutenprint

2006-11-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Paul Smedley

Hi All,

A preview of CUPS 1.2.6 (www.cups.org) + ESP Ghostscript 8.15.3
(http://www.cups.org/espgs/) + Gutenprint 5.0.0
(http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/) is now available at
http://download.smedley.info/cups-1.2.6-os2-a1.zip

Some notes on the release are contained in /cups/readme.os2 after unzipping.

I'd be interested in any feedback. Currently a port driver isn't included,
but Bart is working on this (http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/).

Cheers,

Paul.

Net: netlabs.org needs a new webserver!

2006-11-30
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Adrian Gschwend

Dear community,

After around 6 years the current webserver of netlabs.org needs to get
replaced. We prepared the switch to a new content management system this
year and it was obvious that the performance provided by the server is no
longer sufficient.

A lot of things are happening on netlabs.org right now, projects like
Voyager and the switch to Subversion and TRAC generate much more hits on
the webpage, developers already run into performance problems for some of
the services we provide.

So it is time to switch, we need 2000 Euro to buy recent hardware (dualcore
system, with enough RAM) and we need it now :) Our goal is to finish the
migration till end of 2006.

To get there we need your financial support! We are very grateful for all
the sponsoring we get during the time of netlabs.org but we now need some
additional money for the hardware. For sure we will provide something for
your money:

New website, including:
- an easy to use interface for project administrators
- up to date look and feel with XHTML & CSS
- a new logo for netlabs.org
- more content, like
* integration of TRAC RSS feeds: see what is going on in the project
* integration of mailinglist-postings
- a server that will (hopefully) survive high load. The current webserver
does not survive when we get some media attention, as it happened already
with The Voyager Project.

In mid-term we will also provide:
- an easy way to register as contributor at netlabs.org
- single sign-on for the wiki, edm2.com, TRAC, Subversion & project
administration
- automated news-system for announcing project updates

We know that the current pages are not really fun anymore, lots of
informations are missing and it is hard to find some projects. So the new
server will be a big step ahead for the upcoming projects!

You can contribute at Mensys, they provide a special item for our hardware:

http://shop.mensys.nl/cgi-bin/db2www/mns_art2.d2w/report?catname=NetlabsServer&username=&i1=&o=&x=21:09:00&Search=NETLABS&C=

100% of the money will be sent to netlabs.org, there is no VAT on this item
(even if the website states that). We also accept cheques, in worst case
also Paypal. Please contact ktk[at]netlabs.org if you would like to
contribute in that form!

For sure we will inform on a regular base about the status!

TRAC & SVN: svn.netlabs.org

Thanks a lot
