From:Paul Smedley
Hi All,
Updated at http://smedley.info/os2ports
About Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe:
OpenTTD is a clone of the Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", a
popular game originally written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the
original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.
OpenTTD is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2.0. For
more information, see the file 'COPYING' included with every release and
source download of the game.
Details on the OS/2 build:
It was built using Innotek GCC v3.3.5 CSD1 version and requires the runtime
dll from ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/libc-0.6.1-csd1.zip
Owen Rudge has previous built OpenTTD using Watcom C++ - I mainly just
wanted to see if it could be built with GCC - and also hadn't seen a new
build for OS/2 for a while.
The game requires the original data files from the game Transport Tycoon.
If you don't have this, it is possible to download the required files from
http://download.transporttycoon.net/

I've just released my initial version of SERexxObex, a REXX script for
listing, copying and deleting files from mobile phones.
Works at least with a Sony Ericsson K310i connected via irda to a IBM T23
running OS/2 aka eComStation with Object REXX.
Might work for other mobile phones with or without modifications.
Warning: Use at your own risk!
I only tested this script with my SE K310i.

| SW: DFSee version 8.10 released |
2007-01-10
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++
From: Jan van Wijk
DFSee version 8.10 has just been released.
The pressing reason for the release is a nasty bug in the FIXEXT command in
version 8.09, which would wipe out the MBR sector.
However, the main new functionality in 8.10 is the ability to cope with
sectors larger than the standard 512 bytes in a reliable way ...
DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning, filesystem
and disk analysis, file recovery, UNDELETE for HPFS, JFS, and NTFS,
resizing, imaging, cloning and sector editing.
More details at:
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/
Direct download links from the DFSee website:
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx.zip
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx.msi
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx_warpin.exe
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx_iso.zip
http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee8xx_dsk.zip
Note: Most of these can also be downloaded using '810'
instead of the generic '8xx' version number
Or from the HOBBES website:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee810.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=dfsee
Most important functional changes since 8.09:
- FILEFIND Fix crash mode=FDISK, on several (in FDISK mode) unsupported
commands
- FIXEXT Fix MBR corruption, resulting in empty partition tables!
(8.09 only)
- JFS Updated fixboot/dfsjfldr template code to match eCS 2.0 beta3
level
- MENU Display a notification popup when a disabled menu-item is selected
- PART Fixed buffersize bug in CorrelateDriveLetters (causing a crash)
- PART Show both letters, and a WARNING on duplicate driveletters (clone)
- RESTORE Fix incorrectly reported image size on start other than sector
zero
- SECTORS Allow sectors larger than the standard 512 bytes, tested upto
4Kb now

| SW: Scribus v1.3.3.7 released and available for OS/2 & eComStation |
2007-01-10
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++
From: Paul Smedley
Hi All,
Now available on sourceforge at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=125235&package_id=136924&release_id=476975
& linked from the main page on http://www.scribus.net
From the official announcement:
The Scribus Team is pleased to announce the release of Scribus 1.3.3.7.
This release is purely a further bug fix release to the recently released
1.3.3.6.
This release adds more translation updates, some bugs were found and fixed,
many improvements to the SVG importer. A new splash screen and other
artwork were contributed by Kevin Young.
One of two major additions to this release is the porting of Scribus to
OS/2 by Paul Smedley. This port is lightly tested and there are some known
issues noted in the readme for OS/2, along with notes on installation. No
major code changes were required and in testing it has been fairly stable.
The other is the availability of a new OpenSuse rpm download repository for
all Suse versions 9.3+, including SLED 10. To download add:
http://software.opensuse.org/download/home:/mrdocs/ to your yast/apt/smart
source list for the corresponding Suse version. We hope have this for
Mandriva and Fedora 5+ shortly.
As we announced previously, there will be no more development or bug fixes
to 1.2.x series. We now recommend all distributions package only Scribus
1.3.3.x.
The Scribus Team would also like to thank - Anduin.net/Øverby Consulting
and Cardia AS for their continued hosting of all of the Scribus websites.
The Scribus Team would also like to thank the many end users, translators,
testers and contributors who helped us with thisrelease.
About Scribus
Scribus is a cross-platform open source page layout application with a
focus on high quality commercial grade PDF and postscript export.
Originally developed on Linux, Scribus now runs natively on MacOSX, OS/2,
many forms of Unix and Windows 2000/XP. Underneath the modern and user
friendly interface, Scribus supports professional publishing features, such
as CMYK color, spot colors, separations, ICC color management and versatile
PDF creation. Scribus was the first page layout application on the planet
to directly support PDF/X-3 output, a rigorous ISO standard. Scribus did so
by almost a year.
The Scribus Team is made up of a diverse group of developers with
significant experience in pre-press and newspaper publishing. Commercial
support for Scribus is available for companies and institutions for
implementation, training and migration.

Apache HTTP Server 2.2.4 Released
The Apache Software Foundation and the Apache HTTP Server Project are
pleased to announce the release of version 2.2.4 of the Apache HTTP Server
("Apache"). This version of Apache is principally a bugfix release.
We consider this release to be the best version of Apache available, and
encourage users of all prior versions to upgrade.
Apache HTTP Server 2.2.4 is available for download from:
http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi
Apache 2.2 offers numerous enhancements, improvements, and performance
boosts over the 2.0 codebase. For an overview of new features introduced
since 2.0 please see:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/new_features_2_2.html
Please see the CHANGES_2.2 file, linked from the download page, for
a full list of changes. A summary of security vulnerabilities which
were addressed in the previous 2.2.3 and earlier releases is available:
http://httpd.apache.org/security/vulnerabilities_22.html
Apache HTTP Server 1.3.37 and 2.0.59 legacy releases are also currently
available. See the appropriate CHANGES from the url above. See the
corresponding CHANGES files linked from the download page. The Apache
HTTP Project developers strongly encourage all users to migrate to
Apache 2.2, as only limited maintenance is performed on these legacy
versions.
This release includes the Apache Portable Runtime (APR) version 1.2.8
bundled with the tar and zip distributions. The APR libraries libapr
and libaprutil (and on Win32, libapriconv) must all be updated to ensure
binary compatibility and address many known platform bugs.
This release builds on and extends the Apache 2.0 API. Modules written
for Apache 2.0 will need to be recompiled in order to run with Apache 2.2,
and require minimal or no source code changes.
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/2.2.x/VERSIONING
When upgrading or installing this version of Apache, please bear in mind
that if you intend to use Apache with one of the threaded MPMs (other
than the Prefork MPM), you must ensure that any modules you will be using
(and the libraries they depend on) are thread-safe.

"InnoTek today has released its leading virtualization product as open

develop the product."
"InnoTek VirtualBox is a family of powerful x86 virtualization products for
enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature
rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the
only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software
under the terms of the GNU Public License (GPL)."
Though no mention of OS/2 as anything other then a guest, on the list of
screenshots: http://www.virtualbox.org/attachment/wiki/Screenshots there is
an image of XP running under OS/2:

Currently only windows and Linux versions are shown on the download page:
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Under the guest status page:

For OS/2 Warp, it states that it works, stability is "good", and
performance is "very good". It also states "Requires VT-x hardware

They are looking for help with coding, documentation and design.
