SW: PM123 Beta-3 Release is Refreshed

2007-05-24
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Sander Nyman <2sanderDESPAM@DESPAMsbcglobal.net>

There was a small problem with PM123 beta-3, that would cause an innocuous
error message upon closing PM123 if the MP3 file was not selected from a
Playlist. I'm happy to report that Dmitry has already corrected the
problem, and refreshed beta 3. In my own testing, it is now working
perfectly. In fact, don't be misled by the incremental version number
given to the 1.32 releases. Most developers would have called it 2.0 by
now. :-)

If you downloaded PM123 before this morning (PST), please download it again
(same link below). If you haven't downloaded it yet, what are you waiting
for? This is one damn fine bit of OS/2 PM programing!

My original post follows:

PM123 is an excellent open source PM based digital audio player for OS/2.
It is capable of playing MP3's, WAV-files, Ogg Vorbis audio files, and
audio CDs. PM123 supports audio streaming, plugins, skins, visualization
and more! There is also excellent documentation in .INF format.

Originally developed by Samuel Audet and Taneli Leppa, it is now being
developed by Dmitry Steklenev. Credit is also given to Marcel Muller for
several fixes, and new features.

This latest version includes MANY new features, fixes, and improvements
over version 1.31. See the history file for details.

PM123 version 1.32 beta 3 is available at:

ftp://ftp.ptv.ru/pub/glass/pm123/pm123-1_32_beta_3.zip

Source code for this version is also available:

ftp://ftp.ptv.ru/pub/glass/pm123/pm123-1_32_beta_3-src.zip

You can download a collection of skins here:

ftp://ftp.ptv.ru/pub/glass/pm123/pm123-1_32_beta_1-skins.zip

Many skins are also available on Hobbes.

You can find Plugins for PM123, and more information on PM123 here:

From: mc6530DESPAM@DESPAMmclink.it

ClamAV 0.90.2, a GPL anti-virus toolkit for eComStation and OS/2 Warp

Clam AntiVirus is a GPL anti-virus toolkit for UNIX (and OS/2). The main
purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment
scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded
daemon, a command line scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via
Internet. The programs are based on a shared library distributed with the
Clam AntiVirus package, which you can use with your own software. Most
importantly, the virus database is kept up to date.

A multithread plugin for InetPowerServer is available, ask for details (not
free software).

Download new version from Hobbes:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=clamav

Additional requirements:
- libc 0.6.2 runtime:
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/libc-0.6.2-csd2.wpi (currently
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/gcc/libc-0_6_2-csd2.wpi )
- libc pathrewriter:
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/contrib/klibccfg.wpi (or incoming
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/klibccfg.wpi )

Since this software is ported for free, donations are welcome! you can use
PayPal to donate me and support OS/2 developement. See my homepage for

SW: OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 GA released

2007-05-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Joachim Benjamins

Product Announcement
May 29, 2007
Subject: Support Agreement (12 months) for OpenOffice.org for
eComStation and IBM OS/2
Reference SSI Product Announcement, November 4, 2005, same subject
Effective date: May 29, 2007

Effective immediately, Serenity Systems International will be
distributing a GA version of OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 to all users who
ordered the Support Agreement for OpenOffice.org product. This version
has been compiled to run on IBM OS/2 and eComStation as a native
application. OpenOffice.org version 1.1.5 will no longer be distributed.

OpenOffice.org for IBM OS/2 and eComStation users has successfully
passed all the testing procedures in place for other platforms,
including Microsoft Windows(r), Linux, and Solaris(r). This includes a
48 hour automated testing cycle designed to use every dialog and
runtimes exceeding 24 consecutive hours during which the application is
subjected to constant usage.

Support Agreement users whose 12 month term has expired will be able to
download a copy of OpenOffice.org 2.0.4. Current Support Agreement
users will also be able to:

- Report issues and open support tickets
- Download fixes, updates, and enhancements
- Test new versions as they become available

Planned updates and enhancements include:

- WPS file class: this class will enhance the file details page, showing
the document properties.
- Printing: printing can be enabled by object file icon drag & drop over
printer object, from WPS print menu, with drag & drop from
OpenOffice.org window to the printer object.
- eComStation or IBM OS/2 look & feel.
- Drag & drop from WPS objects to OpenOffice.org window to allow opening
new files, inserting new files, linking existing files.
- NLS language selection for UI using program object properties or by
drag & drop of the locale object.
- Java enablement of OpenOffice.org allows scripts and wizards to
function properly.
- Update of the code base to the latest available level.

These fixes and enhancements will be delivered to all active Support
Agreement users. MSRP for the Support Agreement for OpenOffice.org for
OS/2 and eComStation is $49US. MSRP for renewals is $29US. For more
information, see http://www.ecomstation.com/openoffice
For a list of resellers, see http://www.ecomstation.com/buy

Serenity Systems International will comply with all elements and
restrictions associated with the licensing and distribution and use of
OpenOffice.org.

Net: OS2 World.Com will be down during the next 24h

2007-05-30
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: kimhDESPAM@DESPAMos2world.com

OS2 World server will be down down for the next 24 hours due to service of
the system. Reason is that we last night noticed that one of the hard
drives was starting to give the server some problems and resulted in that
we need to rebuild the raid volume that the OS is installed on.

So I hope that this little brief message avoids any kind of conspirational
ideas of why the server is off-line.
