SW: IMERJ v0.7 released

2008-01-09
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Alex Taylor

IMERJ is a very simple input utility for typing Japanese text on
non-Japanese OS/2 systems. It allows you to enter Japanese kana by typing
romanized text in the edit window. The text can then be copied into
another application as needed.

Only hiragana and katakana, and ASCII (fullwidth and halfwidth) are
supported. Kanji conversion is not available.

IMERJ is intended primarily for use on non-Japanese OS/2 systems where no
better method for typing Japanese is available. Users of native Japanese
versions of OS/2 will probably not find it very useful, as the built-in IME
is considerably more sophisticated.

IMERJ is available here:
http://www.cs-club.org/~alex/programming/os2/#imerj
and has been uploaded to Hobbes as well.

IMERJ is free software licensed under the GPL.

SW: FM/2 version 3.9.0 has been released

2008-01-10
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: David Graser

FM/2 v. 3.9.0 has been uploaded to Hobbes Incoming

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/fm2-3-9-0.wpi

and will eventually be moved to

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/browser/fm2-3-9-0.wpi

This release contains a lot of fixes and enhancements.

Fixes and enhancements can be found at

http://svn.netlabs.org/fm2/report/6

File Manager/2 (FM/2) is a free OS/2(Warp)/eCS Presentation Manager 32-bit
file/directory/archive maintenance utility (a sort of super-Drives object,
something midway between the Drives objects and a more traditional file
manager) with plenty of bells, whistles and utilities, drag and drop,
context menus, toolbars, bubble help and accelerator keys. If you know how
to use OS/2, you already know how to use most of FM/2. You can easily glean
the rest from the extensive online help, including tutorials.

Enjoy,

David

++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Walter Meinl

"Enigmail is a security extension to Mozilla Thunderbird and Seamonkey. It

installing the new version. Have fun....

SW: WPS-Wizard fixpack V0.6.1a1 available

2008-01-12
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Chris Wohlgemuth news://news.ecomstation.com/ecomstation.gui>

[Moderator note: "WPS-Wizard is a set of classes to add unique features to
the WPS. It's seamlessly integrated and offers e.g. an info area for
folders showing previews of images (eCS 1.2MR and above) and PDFs (if
Lucide is installed), a technically advanced and unique icon engine for
using PNG image files as icons, a Rexx interface to the WPS and much more."
The full install WPS Wizard 0.6.0 is required and can be found at
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/misc/cinc/wps-wizard/wpswizard-0_6_0-eng.zip or
on hobbes.]

Hi everyone,

This is a fixpack to be applied to an existing installation of V0.6.0 of
WPS-wizard. Just replace the files wpswizz.dll and wpswizz.sym with the
ones included in this package.

Get it here:

ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/wps-wizard-0.6.1a1-eng.zip

Note that wpswizz.dll is locked as long as the WPS is running. You have to
boot a mainainance partition or use an unlock utility for DLLs to be able
to remove the old file.

New features
------------

-Included is a script to uninstall any icon theme currently in use. Note
that no files are deleted so it's save to run even on unknown themes.

-You may set a default icon size for the system.

Create a key under the application 'IconTheme' named 'IconSize' in
os2.ini and set the size in percent, e.g. 150 (don't add a % sign). You
may use all the
sizes found in the 'View' menu. Note that this also works when no theme is
installed. No there is no graphical frontend for that.

Changes
-------

V0.6.1a1 (12.01.2008) (fixpack)

-Fixed (?) crash because of stack problems (ticket #6)
-Disabled edit button for OS/2 icons
-Fixed trap during painting of icons in freshly opened folders (missing
paint context)
-"Normal sized Symbols" was never check marked in view menu
-Fixed (?) abort of automated folder opening when using DragText thanks
to some info from the author
-Fixed ticket #8. Icon editing failed when no theme was installed
-Experimental feature: user defined icon sizes. Create a key under the
application 'IconTheme' named 'IconSize' in os2.ini and set the size in
percent, e.g. 150. You may use all the sizes found in the 'View' menu. Note
that this also works when no theme is installed.

For full history see the file 'Changes'.

Home of the package
--------------------

http://svn.netlabs.org/wps-wizard

There you may find links to icon themes.

Enjoy
