++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Doug Bissett

PMMail 3.01.09 was released by VOICE. You can get more information at:

> http://pmmail.os2voice.org/index.php?title=PMMail_for_OS/2

Enjoy...

" About the project:

PMMail has been a favorite email client of many OS/2-eCS users for quite
some time. As the product appeared to be falling into a state of
"maintenance mode" several members of VOICE began to enquire as to the
possibility of purchasing the rights to the source code to renew development.

The result of this was that the members of VOICE voted to purchase the
source for development. PMMail/2 is free to all VOICE members who were
paid-up members as of December 31, 2006. The sale of PMMail/2 to others
will involve VOICE membership plus $25. At this point no outside sales are
intended."

Net: eCSWare.org Announcement

2008-07-28
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Dennis d'Entremont

Hello eComStation World!

I would like to let you all know that today I have launched a new
eComStation software website known as eCSWare.org. This site is a place
where members will be able to upload and download eCS related software.
There are many categories ranging from system and developer tools to themes
and icon sets.

The site is brand new and is seeking new members and contributers. There
have already been some files uploaded but I am sure there are a great many
useful pieces of software that need a place to live. Currently the site is
set to allow a max upload of 100 megabytes but if you want to host
something bigger contact me and I we can arrange to host the file.

My hopes for this site are to create a service that is complimentary to
other eCS related services and websites already in existance and to work
with these resources to create a better overall eComStation community. See
you there!

SW: Gutenprint printer driver for CUPS added

2008-07-31
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Mark Dodel

Paul Smedley has created a Gutenprint printer driver.
http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/wiki/gutenprt

"I've used the IBM postscript driver source as a basis, and fixed a couple
of bugs in it that prevented OS/2 applications from being able to change
CUPS printer settings.

Additionally, I've preloaded around 600 PPD files from Gutenprint 5.2.0
beta 3 into the driver so that most users won't need to go through the
process of importing PPD files into the driver.

Download link:
http://download.smedley.info/gutenprt-5.2.0-beta3-os2-20080713.zip

Known issues:

* Lucide and odin apps are unable to change some printer settings due
to issues with pscript.drv's (on which gutenprt.drv is bases) inability to
inject the relevant postscript code when passed raw postscript code."

Please let Paul know if you find this software useful. He needs user
feedback to continue work on these projects. He maintains a bug tracker
for many projects at http://mantis.smedley.info It just requires a simple
registration.

many others) for OS/2 & eComStation, please consider making a donation

2008-07-31
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Yuri Dario

I have here a new Asus EeePC 900, and I installed eCS 2.0 on it; thanks to
existing documents, and some tweaks, I managed to get it installed in a
different way.

To share my experience with others, I have published a new page on my wiki,

http://web.os2power.com/yuri/HowToEeePC900

It is a work in progress, not all details are available, but you should be
able to understand it :-)

I'm waiting for your contributions.

Thanks,

Yuri Dario
