SW: Updates to http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/wiki/CupsPort

2008-12-26
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Paul Smedley

Hi All,

FWIW - I've updated http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/wiki/CupsPort with an
updated build of CUPS 1.3.9 and the addition of Gutenprint 5.2.3

From now on, I'll keep CPS, Gutenprint and Ghostscript as separate
packages to try and avoid confusion.

I've also added a port of Splix v1.1.1 for Samsung printers - works nicely
with my CLP300N :)

Cheers,

Paul.

SW: eCUPS.drv updated

2008-12-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Mark Dodel

Paul Smedley has updated his eCUPS printer driver .
http://www.smedley.info/os2ports/ This is based on the IBM postscript
driver source and fixes some problems that people have using the IBM
Postscript driver with the eCUPS port. It includes a large number of added
PPD files to what was in the IBM driver, so many newer Postscript printers
are supported without needing to be added. For download and more
information see http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/wiki/gutenprt

Please let Paul know if you find this software useful. He needs user
feedback to continue work on these projects. He maintains a bug tracker
for many projects at http://mantis.smedley.info It just requires a simple
registration.

If you'd like to help support continued development of this project (and
many others) for OS/2 & eComStation, please consider making a donation
either via Paypal using the link on Paul's website, or using the Mensys
Online Store http://www.mensys.net/os2ports/

SW: ACPI testing: slow/unsuccessful boot in SMP APIC

2008-12-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Eugene Gorbunoff

The debugging of ACPI continues, it's necessary improve SMP APIC mode
support (/SMP /APIC). This is the nominal mode of work for all modern
computers (2 or more cores)

The ACPI tracker contains few bug-reports related to slow/failed boot of
eComStation in SMP APIC. It's difficult to understand the causes by 1-2
"patients", it's necessary examine 20 patients with similar symptoms.

Use title for your ticket: SMP APIC, %model of notebook%

* Install ACPI 3.14,
* boot without /SMP, grab ACPI log
* boot /PIC /SMP, grab the log
* boot /APIC /SMP, if system hangs then try debug version of ACPI.PSD make
photo of screen with digital camera, what do you see on the screen?

How to post tickets to the bug-tracker --
http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=logs

(use LOGS Collector package to collect all logs)

ACPI testing is safe. If you have bootable JFS and system doesn't boot
anymore - check the volume from installation CD1

Net: Update to ERACC On-Line Shopping

2008-12-29
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Gene Alexander

Hello Everyone,

Some of you have noticed, and commented to me in e-mail, that our shopping
site has been bare. After several weeks of not having time to work on our
shopping site I finally managed to update it a little today. Our new
shopping cart (Drupal + Ubercart) now has the option to request a new PC
quote. One can request quotes for PC systems with eComStation and/or other
operating systems preinstalled or bare drive PC systems. Use this URL to
see it:

http://shopping.eracc.com/content/preloaded-personal-computer-quote

Feel free to send us suggestions about this page or requests for items you
want to see offered from ERACC. You can use our contact form (
http://shopping.eracc.com/contact ) or e-mail direct using the e-mail
address included with this message.
